Out with the old F-150, in with the new. Need opinions. *Pics*

Hey guys, cool site. I've had a Ford F-150 for years but know little to nothing about the truck market and after market products. It seems you guys here are much more up to date on the truck scene than I am so I thought I'd ask for your help and opinions. I have 3 questions really:

First off, the new-to-me truck I just bought. Here's what I got:

(Camera phone pic, sorry for the poor quality.)

Used 2004 F-150 STX 4x4
CARFAX clean (I also drove it to mechanic I trust and had it cleared while I had it on test drive)
35,014 miles
Tow package
Factory bedliner
Cruise control
CD player
Fog lights
Alloy wheels & new tires
...and a couple other non important odds and ends.

*DOES NOT HAVE*
Power windows, mirrors, or locks.

I *think* I bullied the sales manager and got it for $13,500. After taxes, tag, and title the total was about $14,600.

Question 1.) Did I do well or did I get ripped off?

-------------------------------------------------

Secondly, I have $1,500 to spend on new wheels, tires, and lift. The local 4WheelParts store here in Marietta, GA, quoted me the following for what I want:

4 Mickey Thompson M/T Classic II 16x10 polished wheels = $540
4 BF Goodrich 33x10.5R15LT/C tires = $532
3 inch lift ( whatever that entails ) = $200
Alignment job = $100
Labor = $140

Total after tax = $1602

Question 2.) Is this a good deal? Or what would you do differently with $1500?

-------------------------------------------------

Thirdly, I have this truck I want to sell (not here), but I don't know how much to ask for and I don't want to rip anyone off or be ripped off. I see people selling similar trucks for a really wide range of prices so I have no clue. Have a look:

1992 F-150 XLT
Clean and accident free
185,000 miles (Spent $1,400 on total engine overhaul and maintenence last year, kept the paperwork. I use it as my daily transportation still)
Linex bed liner
Power windows, doors, locks, seats
Cruise control
CD player (removable face)
Full size tool box
Dual gas tanks
Clear front lights
Tinted windows
32" BF Goodrich All Terrain tires
Chrome wheels
Tow package
...and a couple other non important odds and ends.

*DOES NOT HAVE*
4 wheel drive

Also, in my opinion I think it needs a new paint job and it has a couple of dings that I really wanted to get out as I had origionally planned on keeping this truck for another 12 years. These are just cosmetic issues I know, but it's got to affect the sale price I'm sure. So...

Question 3.) Whats a fair price I should ask for it?

-------------------------------------------------

I may not know a lot about trucks but I what I do know is that I love my old F-150 because it's treated me right, and after I drove the new F-150's I fell in love all over again.

Thanks in advance for your help and input guys! I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions!

Well first off a 15 inch tire will not fit a 16 inch wheel. And I am not sure, but I think you need at least a 17 inch wheel to clear the rotor/brakes on the 04 and up F150.

I don't think you will get much of a lift for 200 bucks either. You may get a front level kit for that.

Get BFG 285/70R17 tires. They will even fit on OE wheels that are 7.5" wide. They are 33". For 33" tires you don't need any lift. 33" will fit on the truck with no problem.

I'd go with a 2.5 inch leveling kit first of all. They all are about the same so it doesn't matter if you get a Daystar, Skyjacker or Autospring. THe new style Skyjacker and Autospring style are easier to install however. Personally, for wheels and tires, I'd go with a 18x9 inch wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing and a 325/60-18 tire. Like Kingfish51 said, if you want to go in steps, you could go with a 285/70-17 (33x11.50), 295/70-17 (34x12.00) or a 33x12.50 tire and your OEM wheels to start with and later add a wider aftermarket wheel.

While your old truck ROCKS, It's value on the market isn't all that great.

$3k - $4k?

Check out other sites like ebay and craigslist to get a better idea

Cool, thanks UrbanCowboy. That's not too bad IMO.

Also, I found this:

Skyjacker '04 F150 4WD 3" S-coil Kit with Add-A-Leafs
This 3" suspension kit replaces the ample struts with the higher quality Platinum Series Mono-Tube Gas shocks & Softride® coils. This surprisingly simple yet completely durable suspension package, allows the rack-and-pinion steering and front & rear sway bars to be left in the stock positions for precise steering response. There is also no need to modify or replace the drive shafts... plus it makes way for larger 33" tires. (Rear Shocks Sold Seperately) (AVAIBLE IN MAY-JUNE, WE ARE TAKING PRE-ORDERS, GET ON THE LIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR ONE OF THE FIRST TO GET THIS AWESOME KIT)
$610.98
WEBSITE LINK, FIRST ITEM FOR SALE ON PAGE

^ Is that a good deal? Is it even what I want?

You guys here have the knowledge, I have the desire, will, and $1,500 to do get this truck looking and riding nice. If you look at my old truck above you can get the idea of what I'm going for. I'll be taking pics and posting them here after I get it all done so your guys can see what you input created, so the question remains...

...what would you do with the new truck above and $1,500 people?

Tint the windows, buy a Superchips programmer, exhaust, Volant intake, put a 2" front leveling kit on it, Bilstein shocks all around, and some 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Edit: 20" wheels would look sharp.

Weeeeell.....

... getting replies here is a little harder than I thought. I'm heading out to the store to look at some parts this afternoon, so if anyone has some last minute advice for me I'd appreciate it.
