OK, so the taxpayers pony-up 60K, and the cop is cleared of all wrongdoing? She's a minor, and not being violent. The manager checked the drawer and found no 20's. Yet, he pepper spray's her? He is a disgrace to the uniform he wears. No wonder people don't trust the police. It's unfortunate because most cops are honorable people.

the officer got cleared of any wrong doing?

what the hell? that pisses me off, he should have at least been suspended or received a fine.

FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, african americans always try to say it's racial profilling whenever they have a run-in with the cops. this girl obviously did nothing wrong and she is still harassed by a white cop and all she does is file a lawsuit against the police department. I have tremendous respect for her for not playing the race card when she very easily could have. I am sorry that happend to her but I am sure she could care less about it after receiving $60,000.

Well he probably should not have got so upset over the possiblity that he was short changed and she should have shown him some respect. You don't sit there and yell at a Cop when he tells you to do something unless you want some serious trouble. Not saying the Cop was in the right but you are not going to settle anything by starting a fight with him.

P.S. If that had happened in Portland she would have been beaten or shot.

You don't get pepper sprayed for mouthing off. Last time I checked, opening my mouth was protected under the Constitution. I hear far worse on TV. He lost his professionalism. Simple as that. I would've given him flak, too. And I'm a 40 yr old white law-abiding male. If mouthing off was an offense, we'd all be in trouble. He wanted to bust her, simple as that. All he had to do was question the whitness, the manager, and he'd have realised that he was incapable of doing simple math. The manager should have stood up and stuck up for the employee or called in another officer. How was what he did protecting the public welfare?

It's 100% completey his fault and NO one elses fault...

What orders? In my opinon he had no business being behind the counter like any other citizen of which he is. He is no better then any other citizen. He should have filed a complaint like any other customer.

Last I knew if you thought you were short changed you can't just call the police in and start hauling people away ESPECIALLY after you have been proven wrong like the manager proved him wrong by telling the idiot there were no $20's.

What part of "there is no $20's" did the idiot not understand? He was an @ss whipe with an ego who thought he was God. Was the girl mouthy? Absolutely but it DID not warrant AT ALL his actions PERIOD! It doesn't matter if I told a cop I thought he was an idiot there is NOTHING he can do legally. Of course I would never say that to a cop if I was getting a ticket but if one walked up to me and asked what I thought and I said it well to bad so sad not a damn thing he can do legally...

What the manager should have done was gave the cop an ultimatum. It should have been I will bring you back there so you can see for yourself there is no $20’s in the register and then once you see that you will leave the premises or I will have you arrested for extortion.

That is basically what the cop was trying to pull off. He was trying to extort money from a business simply because he was a cop. Had I been that girls lawyer I would have got her the $60k plus and then tried to have the idiot charged with extortion since he had been told THERE IS NO $20’S MORON!!!

She should have taken one step further and sued him directly (such as in civil court). He basically got out of it with the city's police department having to pay.
