I've had one linksys that no matter what I did manually the only way it worked was to uninstall it and start fresh with the CD....somehow it worked the 113th time.

Is this is by any chance a ZyXEL PRESTIGE DSL modem ? Possiably a model 645M-A1 (also released as a sprint 645).

I have a Dlink DI-524 sitting on the floor at my feet.... It went bad after one year so got the linksys wrt54g

It's been a long time since I had DSL but do you not have to register the MAC address with your ISP? I know cable you don't but I seem to remember doing that for DSL when I had it.

Right now, I'm wirelessly posting from laptop B. I don't know how and why, but it's working right now...and I hate that. I want to know what I did (or didn't) do to make this thing work. All I did was take the D-Link router, plug it in and boom, it works. Didn't do the setup or use the setup CD or anything like that. I'll have to do some more fine tuning with this thing tomorrow.

I still say its an IP conflict.

type in 192.168.1.1 now with the dlink...

you shouldnt get anything becasue the dlinks is 192.168.0.1 if something pops up thats you modem....

everyone is over thinking it.
