This is very old news. Its sad really and just shows how bad Ford is really doing these days. The Norfolk plant is the original truck plant and its sad to see it go. Im from the hampton roads area and actually attended college in Norfolk, so as a Ford fan, the truck plant was a big deal. I just hope Ford can stay afloat at all.

I think there is also a plant in Northern Kentucky that makes the larger F-series trucks.
The plant that makes the Ranger is located in St. Paul, MN, and is due to close in 2008. I guess that means the Ranger will either be discontinued or redesigned and built at one of the remaining truck plants?

Ford's "The Way Forward" is closing a lot of assembly plants, in efforts to save a few billion dollars here and there. SLAP, Atlanta, and Wixom Assembly plants will all be closed by '08. Batavia Transmission and Windsor Casting are closing as well. Norfolk's closing, and there's a couple others I forget right now. Everything said and done, 25-30K people will be out of work by 2008.
