Yup, it's for an aftermarket alarm system. You plug it in, then unplug it quickly and start the car.

Interesting. That's not what that particular key is for but it's interesting that there are some like it used for other purposes.

Any other known uses for keys like these?

I'm asking because a number of people had told me they have never seen anything like it and I am wondering if it really is that rare/unusual/whatever.

I'm with Roush on this one. I owned a LeBaron Convertible awhile back and I had a similar key for the security system on it.
