Rude people....

I just got off the phone with this dolt from Bakersfield California. Is it me or does it seem like MOST people from California are rude?

Anyway.

He calls up and wants to know 2 things:

1. Why he has no cable TV.
2. When someone will be out to fix it.

Reasonable questions for a cable subscriber, except one problem, he was a complete Ahole about it, and he didn't ask, he "demanded" an answer.

Wanna know what? He still doesn't have an answer.

When you call technical support for help and you act like the way this guy does, you wont get much help, and if you DO get help, it's just enough to get that tech through the call. Trust me I know.

[edit]
I found a picture of the guy at his place of business:

So, customers in California call Texas for tech support?
I guess customers in Texas call Virginia for tech support?
So, when I call tech support that's why I end up in India?

Do customers in India get the Bakersfeild office?

At least some get to talk to an "American". When I had an HP computer problem. First call-India, second call, either Spain or Portugal, third call, the Lord only knows, possibly China.

There are tons of rude people out there. And it's not just in California. You should see some of the winners I get to deal with. Loads of fun.

I have lots of problems understanding the India office.
They have offered to transfer me to the Texas office.
I beg them not to because I don't speak drawl.

Pretty soon when you call customer service for anything, the automated answering program will pick up in a foreign language and then ask you to press 2 for english.

note - this is not meant as a racial comment, just my point of view after dealing with Verizon customer service this past week.

2nd note - how sad this world has become when you have to make a politically correct note under a comment which may be construde as politically incorrect.

We are the regional call center for California (Humbolt/Bakersfield), Texas, Oklahoma, Lousiana, Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, and soon to have West Virginia.

Of all these places, California folk seem to be the ones with the chip on their
shoulder.

The problem I had was that they all thought they were speaking English. I told one of them, I think it was the Spanish sounding guy that he might be speaking English, but he sure wasn't speaking Texan English. He didn't get it. Or if he did, he didn't think it was funny.

How the heck does your company get contracts for those states?

With the exception of California did their bid have the phrase....
"...customers have no shoes? We can handle them..."

I can relate all to well. I do tech support for Bakersfield, L.A. area (both rude and whiny), Hawaii *shudders*, a buch of Texans and other southerners, whom half of which I can't understand either (Laredo, Corpus Cristi, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, El Paso, Gonzalez, Kerrville, Rio Grande, Uvalde, Witchita Falls...) and a bunch other when the other call centre can't handle their calls including the senior capital of the world, Central Florida.
