Just For J-150 - Gruesome Bear Photos

If you still have a problem believing that the bear was killed by electrocution, then I don't know what to tell you.

This happened at the Kenai Refinery up in Alaska. Look them up and give them a call for the details.

Here's the bear with the cable in his mouth still.

Here's the damage done to the poor things jaw.

Where the paw meets his fur is the carbon signature where the bear went to ground.

Last, here is the ground where the bear was standing when he was lit up. Again, note the carbon signature.

You need 4 people to do that at your job? How big is your Network?

It's too complicted to explain. Lets just say this. Your business consists of a call center. Technology plays a major role in daily operations. There is one person holding all the technological knowledge. Let's take three major business-critical aspects for us.

1. Telephones. We have 140 phone lines, both stand alone and T1
2. Call Center Database
3. Proprietary dialer system.

I'm in charge of all this (and more), and I'm the only one in charge. Now I'm leaving and they have 1 week to get this information. I may not be a busy employee day to day but it took nearly 4 years for me to learn what I know.

On top of that, I would estimate the average length of employement for administrative staff here is probably 2 weeks. You either quit because you're too talented, or you're fired because the owners don't like you.

I used coax cable in the military that ran at over 2500 volts DC, and ran usually less than an amp but was rated for 10A and 5000 VDC. Coax potent enough to carry that kind of load to kill the bear exists and is used. Secondly you'd be suprised at the current required to kill something. Especially if its pretty much going across the heart as in this case.

I'm not saying weather or not it did actually happen, but there is cable that would be more than enough to kill that bear.

Update

I called the refinery today. The guy thinks the cable is 8 ga., and a person from Environmental will call me back next week with the exact details. They actually sounded like they didn't appreciate this getting any attention.

Oh well. The only things that ever gets into our high voltage equipment at work is mice and bull snakes. We did have an owl get crossed up in our microwave tower once, but he didn't fry. He just got a talon stuck in some mesh and beat himself to death before anyone noticed he was up there.

I wish I had taken a picture of the last mouse we found. He was in a 2" conduit, and chewed the A phase of a 3 Phase cable when he was blown like a shotgun blast all over the cabinet. A mouse and 277 Volts don't mix any better than the bear did.

I'd have to think there would be less left of the mouse after that sudden jolt.
