Would You Rather Your Bear Be BBQd?

One low voltage bear goes high voltage for a few minutes. (If you're a bear lover or cry over dead animals, stop here and turn back now! )

Ain't he cute?

thats not high voltage cable.

looks like co-axial, which is low voltage and would just PO the bear.

Anything with enough amperage to kill the bear would have to be thicker than that.

I'm in Denver right now, but when I get home, I'll post the rest of the pictures showing the closeups of his mouth and how his jaw was blown out, charcoaled, and the pictures of where his paw went to ground.

Do you know anything about electricity?

I'm in the power industry. These pictures came from a refinery in Alaska. I don't know what the hell you think killed the bear, but the stupid furry beast ripped out the transmitter assembly, and started chewing on the wire.

Just for your info, the higher the voltage, the LESS thick the cable has to be. A wire carrying 20 amps at 120VAC will carry more amps at 230VAC, and so on up the scale. Go outside, and stare at a 500KV transmission line, and think about the fact that it is no thicker than copper cable used for 480VAC at 300 amps.

The wire in the picture is not coax either. It's direct burial, probably 1/0 or 2/0, on private land, and while it may not technically be "high" voltage, (above 600 volts), it was 480VAC.
