Some new Belvedere (Mopar) pix and such...

Well, here's what I did today (and some last week).

I fabbed up a mounting plate for all my late model electronic ignition. Rather than drill new holes in my freshly painted firewall I made this plate, the powder coated it wrinkle black. It mounts with three bolts using the existing holes from the original voltage regulator and ballast resistor (niether of which would work for mounting anything individually). and since I'm not necessarily grounding anything through body (though the body is grounded) I've added ground straps that run from the voltage regulator to the ECU to the mounting bolt, then inside the firewall there is another that runs to the body ground strap from the engine that mounts to the firewall below this plate. I haven't yet but that ground will then run over to the starter relay, then back to the battery. I also decided this plate would be a great spot to mount the Lokar tranny dipstick...

He is also a pic of my new FREE wheels a buddy gave me. They're off a mid 80's Jeep Cherokee, and yes I see the General Lee resemblence, and it doesn't bother me (I'm both a Dukes fan and a Mopar fan).

I also threw in a pic of the door panels a buddy made for me. He was just trying to do something temporay, since my old panels were really nasty and warped. I love the way they turned out, and doubt I'll part with them anytime soon. We made a set for my '71 El Camino several years ago out of black corduroy and carpet. They looked pretty cool, but not near as good as these. They're just black vinyl, but the padding int he back, just really seems to match the body lines of the car...

So, that's that... I also got my gas tank mounted (temporarily, may have to drop it again to install the vent tube elbows if they ever get here), and back brakes rebuilt.

Well, I'm off to shower, and fall asleep watching the new Pink Panther... (BTW, The Hills Have Eyes was really cool)

Do you have original wheels to put back on it?

Memories!

I had those wheels on my first car, a 1986 Cherokee...the ones you have look in awesome shape! Tak care of them, which shouldnt be an issue for you, as the clear coat on the "spokes" tends to wear away easily.

Keep up the good work!

The engine is a stock internal 318. I was told it was rebuilt (what all was done, I don't know) a few years before I bought it, and at that time it ran strong with no smoke, so I can only assume that it was rebuilt, and a halfway decent job was done. I have added, electronic ignition, late model alternator, Edelbrock Performer intake/carb and the MP black wrinkle cleaner and valve covers. Still has the original 727 behind it. I haven't been inside it, but it shifted fine when I bought it.

After the wedding and such I hope to build a strong roller block 318 for it , and I've got an old aftermarket throttle body fuel injection setup that Dad gave me that I'm hoping to get on there sometime, and I'll probably see about having the tranny gone through, and put a shift kit in it.

As far as wheels I gave the original 14" Magnum 500's to Dad to put on his '66 Charger. I added disc brakes, and had to go with 15" wheels to clear the calipers. That was the only reason I parted with the original wheels. I hope to add American Racing Torq Thurst II's sometime in the not too distant future. Just don't have the money to get the car running, and buy new wheels right now.

There's a pic in my gallery, but its kinda dark. I'm going to try to take a better picture today, and post it up. Plus, I'm working on the armrests today, so it would be even nicer to see those installed...

September 23rd. Still have a lot to do, but I'm getting there... Think I'm gonna put the fenders back on this week, then probably work on the steering column, and dash some more. May go ahead, and put the front seat back in.

BTW, here's the driver's door with the arm rest back in...

and what's wrong with my Wally's battery???
