Upscale Wal-Mart?
Upscale Wal-Mart?
So I'm reading thru the news and come across a story about how the demand for Organic Foods is outpacing supply. There was a pic attached to the story:

And the text catches my eye.
Upscale Wal-Mart ?
Isn't that a contradiction in terms?
I was finally in a Wal-Mart for the very first time a few months ago. And while I am not pleased with their business practices, I must say the store itself was impressive. It was about the size of a small city and had EVERYTHING. I must assume they are all like that. To turn it "upscale" seems to go against the essence (for lack of a better word) of their existence.
Anyone from Plano? Is there anything special about this Wal-Mart?
Guess this is my random thought for the day. Sorry Jamz, should have put it there.

What’s wrong with Wal-Mart? I find them to be upscale. I don’t see anybody at Sear’s greeting me at the door other then trying to get me to get one of their credit cards to go in debt with…
You have something against China?

I hate Wal-mart. I have issued a personal executive order restricting my access to their stores to cases of dire need only.
I will drive past a Wal-mart to go to a Target. They are more expensive but they are clean, quiet, orderly, are around to help you, and have more than one cashier working at a time.
However, with all that said there may be something the upscale Wal-mart

I'm just the opposite. I like walmart and hate target. Target is laid out like the old k-marts and seem cheap. I haven't seen a target that sold ammunition and fish bait either. But what do I know, I'm just a pseudo-Texan.
i spend holidays and the summer in plano, my parents live here
as for that walmart you cant really call it upscale at all . . . however you can call it cleaner than all other walmarts.
i wouldnt call it a big deal honestly, just a stupid media tag

Watched the video . . . so that's upscale eh?
Meh.
There are not any Wal-Marts anywhere near here. I think the closest one is 20 or so miles away. Was in one for the first time a couple months ago out in the middle of nowhere as it was the only store in town essentially, especially open at 2AM.
They have everything, I'll give them that. Never seen anything quite like it. Their idea of upsacle leaves something to be desired, then again that's not what they are about. Any time a company starts to stray from their roots, it usually does not work out too well. This will be interesting to watch.

Ok, upscale to a company who's top managment thinks thier H1's are luxary vehicles.
(Nothing against H1, I want one really really bad. How ever it most definatly is not a luxary vehicle.)
Maybach, Lexus, Mercedes.... H1
Nope it just dont fit!
BTW Kobi, I love the new sig!
Edited to add:
How ever, I guess upscale could be in comparison. In comparison to other stores, flower in the bathroom and a coffee shop, with store wide wifi... (That is cool there, you could compare prices online while in the store!!!) unless they block staples, circuit city, best buy, target, etc, etc IP's.
