Yeah, like TUFF said, I am near the area, but Hersh is right on top of it.
As far as I am concerned all Wal~Mart's are trash.

Amazing place. If you're in the area I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!
Anyway, was there for a late lunch. No one in the place except a table of about 12 women. All dressed to the nines, each with a ring big enough to choke a horse. And all with Southern Accents thick enough to . . . well, they were thick.
Anyway, from what conversations we could overhear (they all talked incessantly) it seemed like they were all Wal-Mart executive wives.
Not a Hummer in the parking lot. Just a bunch of Mercedes, Cadillacs, and Chevys. (Go figure)
Maybe it's a Walmart Male Executive thing.

All Sr. VP's and above live in Bentonville, with the exception of his former manager "Chick" who lives in Plano, incidentally, in the Willow Bend area. From what he told me, Chick's wife is the reason they haven't moved, because she's supposedly a hot-shot realtor in this area, making as much money as Chick is, if not more. Because if that, he's been able to stay here. But, if Wal-mart can find an adequate position for the spouse, or if the spouse is not working, you will be in Bentonville... If it's a lie, that's what he told me...
Anyhoo, he's a Sr. VP now; and let's just say with a $2,000,000.00 home, an $88,000 BMW 745Li, and a $75,000 Mercedes GL450 Premium, and his wife doesn't work- they are livign quite nicely on a Sr. VP's income.
But getting to car stereotypes: Here's what you'll find in Plano, from the eyeballometer:
Lexus.................................... 8%
Mercedes.............................. 6%
BMW......................................4%
Audi.......................................3%
Chevy.................................... 8%
Ford........................................9%
Scion......................................2%
Hummer...................................6%
Toyota....................................10%
Chrysler/Dodge.......................... 2%
Infiniti......................................5%
Acura.......................................5%
VW..........................................6%
Jaguar......................................3%
Mercury....................................3%
Lincoln.....................................2%
Volvo.......................................1%
GMC.........................................6%
Honda.....................................11%
Other vehicles, or vehicles that can be described as a POS: =/- 1%
A few words about Plano, from my 10-year observation:
You won't find many clunkers on the streets here.
Plano's police don't play, and there's a bunch of them in everything from Tahoe's to Chargers, to Crown Vics and Impala's.
You won't see many, if any cars- who's rims are worth more than the car.
The average age of the cars on the roads appear to be 5 years or less.
Seeign a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Viper, Z8, Aston Martin or Bentley is still rare, but not uncommon. Hang out in the right areas Fri - Sunday, and you may see all of them, in the same place (Mi Cocina's or Papadeaux Frankford & Tollway/Dallas Parkway).
Most of the vehicles you see clearly over the age of 5 are:
97 - 2003 F-150's & Expeditions, 1991 - 2001, Honda Accords & Civics, 1993 - 2001 Toyota Camry's, and 1992 - 1998 Altima's.
You'll spot the occasional older Lexus, Benz and Bimmer, still in pristine condition.
You'll see just as many Lexus' here in Plano as you will Ford's & Chevy's, and that's no lie. Pound for pound, I'd bet only Malibu/Hollywood, Boulder, CO, and maybe the Hamptons have as many Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Audi, Infiniti, and Acura's per square-mile than Plano.
The kid in the lane next to you, may be driving a car that costs more than you make in a year.
The student parking lot has nicer cars than the teacher's parking lot.
Lexus & Mercedes drivers, have the right of way, in any situation.
30 MPH in a crowded parking lot, is an acceptable speed for high-end (LS400/430 & above) luxury car owners.
My 17 y/o's "C-student" classmate, got a Range Rover for Christmas, her sister got an H2. Their friend at Plano West father bought his daughter an SL500 Mercedes.
Peer-pressure for kids here, is not about what kind of jeans you have, what kind of sneakers, or jacket. It's what kind of car...
Your child will be mocked if they show up in a Corolla, Civic, Neon, or Tiburon. Best to just take the bus, or ride a bike.

Upscale Wal-Mart ?
Isn't that a contradiction in terms?
I was finally in a Wal-Mart for the very first time a few months ago. And while I am not pleased with their business practices, I must say the store itself was impressive. It was about the size of a small city and had EVERYTHING. I must assume they are all like that. To turn it "upscale" seems to go against the essence (for lack of a better word) of their existence.
Anyone from Plano? Is there anything special about this Wal-Mart?
Guess this is my random thought for the day. Sorry Jamz, should have put it there.

I'm near Coit & Park, I used to work at EDS off of Legacy & Hedgecoxe.... Of course, when I started at EDS, there was no such road as Hedgecoxe... (Or the Dr. Pepper Building, Or the Legacy Bank bldg, or any of the buildings between Tenneyson & Legacy... Just the Tollway, Tinsletown, EDS, Plano PD (West) and that farm over by Tinsletown.
Thing have changed drastically in the last 10 years...
I remember saying I'd never live in Frisco, now Frisco is "The Bomb", growing to nearly 75,000 residents, up from under 12,000 in 1997.

They put one of the upscale Walmarts here in Jacksonville by the Airport a few months ago. I haven't had a chance to go in yet but my wife has and she said it is very nice inside. This Walmart is the anchor store for a huge retail center that is being built with all kinds of other big name companies. We are also supposed to get our first real sporting store in Bass Pro Shops. But Walmart is the major store in this mall. I heard they are supposed to be carrying better jewelry and better brand name merchandise.
