Question Need help selecting a PS2 system for my wife's B-day. Anyone?

My wife wants a playstation for her b-day. I'm not into game systems so I need your help picking out the best set up for the money along with what games are fun.
Thanks..
Here is the Walmart page with a selection of systems. How are they priced? Good Bad?

That is the cheapest price on a new system, you can by used at EB games and places like that, or eBay even, and get contollers and games with it for aboutt he same or just a little more.

What type games does she like?

Thank you for your help... I think I will get the system new since it is a gift and as you said the used prices are not that much less.

As far as games, she likes card games and the classic ones from the 80's.
I think the bundle pack with 2 controllers, 1card and 3 games for $213 might be my best bet...

I have 10 days to get it done
thanks again

Do you think it's a wise choice of gifts considering your wife might kill you for getting her a game system for a birthday present when everyone knows women don't play those things? Guess it's better than getting her a vacuum cleaner.

Well I'd get her an X-Box 360...more money but much newer. In fact Playstation 3 is soppose to come out pretty soon(November?). I'd hold off and get her a PS3 and something else for her B-day. With PS3 getting ready to come out in a year or so it'll be hard to find NEW games for PS2. X-Box 360 or PS3(for christmas or something) is what I'd get.

p.s. a 360 is pretty expensive so be ready....

I second that. I like mine, and no they aren't cheap.

You think the Xbox 360 is expensive, and you want him to wait for the PS3? They're gonna want a first-born child for that thing when it finally comes out.
I'd go with the PS2. $129 for the new style is a helluva deal. I might go get one myself. With Guitar Hero. That game rocks!

Is your wife new to the gaming world? I have a PS2 & a Nintendo GameCube and I will honestly say, the GameCube is far more entertaining. It's perfect for a newbie. If she is new to gaming, the controller on the GameCube is so basic a child can figure it out. Check into it. I like it cause the load times are almost non-existent. On a GameCube, when you select save, and it saves, and your back to playing. With the PS2, there is a lot of waiting. Waiting for gamers to load, waiting to save a game.....it's a real pain in the ****.

Just a thought.
