Help!!!!!nervous!!!
Well I am 16 and I just got my license in December and you have to have ur license for 6 months without any tickets and only with 1 person in the car. Well I have 2 more days until that is up (6/11/06) and of course with my luck I get a ticket when I was messing around with my truck exhaust. I would just flore it because my friend was behind me and I was just messing around makin him jealous and when I flore it the cop was like 150yds ahead behind a car and he said he clocked me at 54 in a 30mph zone. (Yes, that is 24 mph over the speedlimit). I know for a FACT I wasnt going 54 but he said I was. I dont know how that radar gun works but he clocked me as I was coming towards him so I guess that thing is pretty complex. So I am wondering if I am going to get my license taken away till I am 18 or something or if I just pay the $165 ticket or what. One of my friends got introuble before his 6 months was up and he said he just got a 90 day probation of no tickets and the cost of the ticket but I dont know. The cops here are really gay so..... That would pretty much suck to be a senior and walking to school. I will graduate before I could drive again.

Oooooo-kay.
you have the legal right to take the ticket to court and fight it. I would suggest this, cause by the time everything is over and done with whether or not you are found guilty, it will be past your days. Also another thing that helps is to take it to court but then delay your court date a time or two.
Odins Wrath- Ya it does sound pretty funny but its true.
Ya but I dont need to do all that because you have to contact the court in 10 days so my days will be up in 2. Then it takes like 2-3 months before they make your court date so it will be up a lot before then. I dont know what kind of trouble I am going to be in. Thanks for the advice tho. I wonder what kind of trouble I can get in and/or what they are going to do.

In your last post I did not understand a word you wrote.
If you do go to court, here's a hint:
Speak clearly. Say "yes sir" and "no sir" to the judge when asked "yes" or "no" questions.
Don't ramble when you talk. Be succinct if asked for your story. Speak in full sentences that make sense.
Don't, under any circumstances tell the judge that you think all the cops are gay.
In the future, don't speed.
Good luck.

Ya I wouldnt say the cops were gay in public besides with my friends. I dont think the court that I am going to is going be where I get to tell my story unless I appeal or w/e the ticket. But most likely it will be where I walk in they say "oh you were going 54 in a 30" thats a $165 ticket and you don't have your 6 months up so thats 2 years of no driving" or something like that.
54 in a 30 huh? You say you weren't going that fast?
Even if you split the diff and you were only doing 42 in a 30 that is still excessive speed, and faster than you need to be going in an area with a posted speed limit of 30 mph.
I bet the guy you were "showing off" for was really impressed, you really showed him (at least that you have $165 that you didn't need elsewhere), didn't you?
Next time, please try to be more careful where you "flore" it...
Why not think about confining your "speeddemon" tendencies to a local track, at LEAST while you are so young, and while you are trying to establish a safe driving record, and show others that you are a responsible young adult, and while you are still trying to grow older and getting somewhere doing that.
All you did was get yourself into trouble, lose $165, put your driver's license in jeapordy, and risk your insurance premium getting raised to even MORE expensive than it is right now.
Wasn't that fun?
Not trying to be "preachy" but sometimes some of us old farts might have something to say that might be worth listening to...
Driving a 5,000 lbs vehicle with a cool sounding exhaust too fast IS a lot of fun, most of us have been there and done that. Some have lived to tell about it, BUT some of us have not, and their friends and relatives will always grieve about losing someone as a result of someone else doing something this stupid.
Operating a vehicle improperly can also be deadly, especially with a 16 year old who does not have the experience to deal with something when it goes oh so terribly wrong.
My little brother runs a website dedicated to teens and safe driving, and educating them (with time in a classroom and in a vehicle) BEFORE they kill themselves or someone else. This is his passion, he dedicates his life to trying to save the lives of our young people. I can only imagine some of the things he has seen and experienced.
I don't know if I can even put his website address here, but parts of it are sobering, including the "memorial wall" ...
PLEASE, for your own sake, and life, and that of others who might become innocent victims - PLEASE be more careful in the future...
I sincerely apologize for turning the tone of this thread towards being serious, but this IS serious, at least IMHO!
Cops and authorities aren't ALWAYS the bad guys, maybe they just hate having to see youngun's put into body bags before they even get out of their teen years!

no to be your dad or anything, but this behavior is why young boys get graduated licenses with limitations

lmao... thanks Patrick. I knew I was an adult when I woke and realized my Dad did in fact know more than me!
Before I share my story I want you "old farts" to know this it was the first time I have ever did this....
I had my license for about 2 months and here in Indiana you can't carry a passenger for 90 days. Well my 90 days weren't up and I had 2 passengers. We were headed to or high school sectionals game which was about 20 minutes away. We were not but 5 minutes away and my friend who I was following had been speeding the whole time and I was going 60(speed limit) about the whole time. Well he got so far ahead I couldn'y hardly see him so I sped up until I got within a comfotable distance. Well right before I started to got back to 60mph there was a state trooper going the other way. Well he popped both of us. He said I was clocked at 85 and my friend h didn't clock but wrote 75 on his ticket. I believe my friend was going 85 and I was going around 75. Anyway I had to call my parents from the officers cell phone. They weren't too happy. I had to pay like a $189 deferal ticket(it means the insurance didn't go up but I had to pay more than what the ticket originally was and if I got a ticket in the next 6 months it would cancel that deferal and I'd have to pay both tickets and there would be no deferal. I was lucky as well that he didn'y record that I had 2 passengers as well. I am just thankful that I didn't hit loose gravel or whatever and flipped the truck. Since that day I haven't sped at all. I am always alert as to what the speed limit is. On the highway I get passed left and right. In the construction zone I back the traffic up because I go 45(posted speed). If I could go back I would have not sped at all. I wa lucky enough to have saved up all the money that I made from working. I know that I'll probably get a lecture from someone.
As for speeddemon the only touble I got into was a deferal ticket(if I wanted to pay extra so my insurance doesn't go up). As for you having someone in your truck when you were popped I think its only a fine (I think thats how it is in Indiana) but my officer didn'trecord that I had 2 passengers. All in all though I had to pay $189 and stay seed free for at least 6 months.
And Patrick that was a nice comment on "flore" it....LOL

Very good post, Patrick...
Speedy, you have to keep in mind that that cool sounding exhaust is attachted to a 5k or 6k pound missile. But you have expirienced your lesson, now the question is whether or not you learn from it. I crashed at 16, and I can still remember looking in my rearview mirror and seeing that Cougar hit the culvert head on at about 40, and doing a nosediving flip. I seen the entire undercarrige of that car, and I remember every detail. Thank God that no one was seriously hurt. The driver wasn't wearing her seatbelt, and end up being thrown from the car, which actually saved her life... The passenger had his seat laid all the way back, and was buckled. It's what saved his life b/c the entire roof caved in upon impact after the flip.
All I can ask is that you learn from your mistake, as I did, and save yourself and someone else the possibility of a lot of grief.
On the same note, I'm glad that are you concerned. That shows that you care and it does affect you. It shows a lot of maturity and responsibility in someone your age.
Well if you were in fact speeding, don't deny the fact that you were speeding. Talk to the clerk before going to court. Tell them yes, I was speeding, and I intend to pay this ticket. Then ask if there is anything you can do to rectify your liscense for the period. They may ask you to take a defensive driving course for a Saturday or something, but it is well worth it. I got a ticket in Missouri one time in a company truck. I told my boss about it, and I called the court in the county where I got it, and told them I didn't need it to be sent to Arkansas. I had to drive 2 hours to the class on ONE Saturday, but it kept it off of mine, and my company's record.
The point is, if you really were speeding, you are going to make it worse by trying to get out of it. Show them you are trying to be a young man and admit your mistake, and they will MAYBE show you a little mercy. If they don't, then you were probably screwed anyway. But hear this, DON'T TRY TO COVER UP A MISTAKE, IT WILL ONLY HURT YOU IN THE LONG RUN. ONLY YOU AND THE POLICE KNOW HOW FAST YOU WERE GOING.
My next question is, have you told you parents? I tried keeping a ticket from my Dad one time, and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty when he found out about it.
Be a man and admit your mistake. You will feel MUCH better about it when it is all said and done.

I think we all probably agree that speedy is probably a good kid, doing no more than many of us did at the same age, some did get away with it, and others didn't...
Part of being a man is fessing up and owning up to your mistakes, and to take responsibility to make it right. And speedy seems to be trying to do that. Sure, we want to get out of it with as little damage as possible, but being truthful to the authorities AND TO YOUR PARENTS shows where you are in the process of becoming a mature adult.
Speedy, maybe the name you chose gives the wrong signals to some of us older guys here, but we DO care about you and want to see you do well, be safe, and stay alive.
Stick around and get to know some of us, if only online, you will not find a better bunch of guys AND gals anywhere on the internet than here in this forum.
Think about some of the comments that have been made, and try to take them to heart.
Hot rides ARE a lot of fun, but at your age you might think you are invincible, but you are not. We want you to live long enough to become an old fart with some of the rest of us here.
There ARE guys here you age, and this can be a really fun place to hang out and to learn about your truck!
IF you ever DO get in an accident I can promise you that you will remember it for the rest of your life. You will always be able to picture it in your mind as if it happened yesterday, and it will be as if it were in "slllooowww motion", as will the actual accident, if you ever DO have one.
Good Luck! SAFE DRIVING, and stick around, OKAY!
SOME DAY we would like to be able to refer to you as "Ole Speedy"... LOL

Speedy - you do have some oversized tires on there, but they would't throw your speed off THAT much. Go to the judge, BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL, and basically say, sir, I'm a F'n idiot, I F'd up, please don't take away my license. Ask for a reduced sentence. And BTW, I'm 18. We don't have any of those driving restrictions except for a 1am - 5am curfew. I've only gotten pulled over once, and it was for running a red light. I believe I made it through, the undercover detective behind me didn't though.
Luckily, I didn't get written up. Do I speed? Yes. Do I do 25 over? Hell no.
