Reverse Camera problem..HELP!!!!!

Cool Cool...thanks Quintin, you're the man. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'm dying to get this thing in, but I refuse to cut a hole in my bumper until its working 100%. Thanks again, I'll let you know how it works out.

HAHA..thanks man...I'll be here.

Okay, shimmy under the truck and try at the MLP switch on the transmission, connector C167. If you're facing the opening of the connector with the locking tab pointing up, it'll be the second pin from the left on the bottom, circuit 1043, should be a DG/YE wire.

Is that the same DG/YE wire I have in my passanger side door sill? If so, thats the wire I'm tapped into for power to the camera. And if I hook up the head unit power to the same wire I get the feedback...

I don't think so, this wire is after the MLP and provides power to the reverse lamp/trailer tow relay, so it should only be hot when in reverse. If it was hot constantly, the reverse lights would stay on all the time.

Ill give it a shot tomorrow, but one question...what if I dont have trailer tow?

Then it'll be labeled as a "reverse lamp relay." The wiring still provides power to the reverse lamps regardless of whether it's equipped with the trailer tow package or not.

OK..sounds good. I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know. Thanks man.

Well I'm just about to give up on this crap. I cant find the connector you're talking about on the transmission and to be totally honest, I'm not sure I want to mess with any connectors or wires on the tranny. The only thing thats labled "reverse lamp relay" is that fuse #14 which is hot at the fuse all the time. Maybe it should be that way and I'm just retarded. There's gotta be another way.
I did some testing tonight and found that the voltage drop across that wire when I hit the brakes is less than 1 volt. Cant I just put a capacitor in line between the power source I am tapping into( dark green / yellow ) and the head unit? Would that be ok? What size capacitor should I use if its possible. I dont want to screw anything up in the wireing or risk damaging the headunit, so if the capacitor idea is a no go and I cant find another wire that hot in reverse.....The only thing this camera is gonna see is the bottom of the ocean.
Quintin, any ideas?
Anyone? I can't believe I'm the only one whos had this problem.
