Cadillac Coupe D' Ville Lightning killer?

Not to strike up any animosity, but has anyone seen this Caddy at the tracks. It runs mid 10's and is a fully functional street car with a complete factory interior. Crazyness. Talk about a sleeper.

HAHA that is cool.

About 7 years ago there was a turbo mercury zephyr wagon that would **** on everything at the local cruise scene. I saw it once and never saw it again.

I was at the Irwindale (1/8 mi) Test N Tune night a couple of years ago.

Corvette stages against a ratty looking, rusty cream-colored Beetle. It looked completely stock except for a stinger exhaust. Time for an *** whoopin', we are all thinking.

At the green, the VW rips off a major wheelie and is GONE. The Vette was only 2/3 down the track when the VW crossed the line.

Best drag race I ever saw.

Last Friday night at HRP a mean looking Lightning lined up with a dark blue Subaru Forester, which had stock rims, non-tinted glass, etc. I was thinking "What an idiot - I hate it when kids bring their mom's grocery-getter to the track and waste everyone's time." Even the announcer made a little fun of it.

Light turns green and the Forester squats down and is gone. 11.20's at something like 118 mph. Turns out it had a turbo and a host of other stuff, and was tuned well. Surprised the heck out of everybody.

Gotta love the sleepers. When I was in high school I sold my car (1967 Fairlane GTA w/390) so I could drive my moms 1968 Mercury Cougar GTE. Now most people figured it to have a 302 and I actually had one guy beg to see my motor to proclaim "I knew it, you have a 351". I didn't have the heart to tell him it was actually a rare factory 427 that had been tweaked to about 425hp.

For a 511 motor it better rip some tens. Nice sleeper car though, but not really. I'd bet you would hear that motor down the street.

cool, i guess. i've never really understood the fascination of building something so ugly to go so fast (like the vegas, pintos and other fugly cars you so people pour a ton of money into). to each his own i guess. i saw an old dump truck (looked really nice) with turbo run in the high 7s (1/8th mile). that thing had to weigh 3 or 4 tons.

Used to watch those Bugs run 10s and 9s back in the 80s. They were running Porshe engines. Little screamers.

he used to run brackets at englishtown..

we'd go down there once in awhile for the $$$$ bracket races back then

he ran at atco a couple of times also

460 automatic... 1 4V carb all throttle no bottle

that was one wild truck to do that back in the early '80'S

...zap!
