I never implied that I was better than anyone QUINTIN, but you have a lot to learn. What are you 25? I was only saying that I've seen what terrorists can do, I have seen kids scream after their father was blown up and wives mourn their husbands. If that is one thing the government has to do to protect our kids, mine and yours then so be it. I have nothing to hide

With all due respect, here's the one part you haven't explained. How is it protecting anything? What's to stop Osama Bin Forgotten and his followers from footing it onto some major military installation, a high school, a football game, a barbeque in your backyard with a bomb in a backpack and blowing it to smithereens? The details of the cell phone call I made to work, telling them I'm running 15 minutes late? Please.

I don't suppose I'm really questioning the fact that the information is readily available to the NSA and other spook agencies, what I want to know is what good is it gonna do?

And in respect to my age, which really ain't got a damn thing to do with this thread, at least I put it up for people to see. Along with a name.

Many people don't like Big Brother looking over them even though they have nothing to hide. We enjoy our freedom and Privacy and many people fear we are losing these rights. We are losing freedom a little bit at a time. What may not be a concern for you maybe a concern for others. And of course what may concern you may not concern others.

I'm also tired of ALL government creating laws to protect me because people put the blame on others and can't accept blame for their own stupid, moronic and irresponsible actions. And then our court system awards them millions.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, there were several old codgers, people who weren't content with the happenings of the world even though several people were quite content, being the sheeple. They bitched and worried.

Men like John and Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, John Han****, and several more. Just imagine if they hadn't bitched and worried.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

In case you didn't know, the 911 Commision found that had the government been monitoring certain communications between the terrorists in the country and outside the county, 9/11 may have been prevented. Is it not concievable that terrorists use cell phones too? Interesting concept, huh? I can assure you that Osama Bin Laden has not been forgotten, but hey your welcome to join up and help us find him...

They didn't bitch and worry... they GOT UP and did something about it. I really don't think they wrote each other letters about it.

I don't fuss over the possibility of being monitored because I have nothing to hide. So, why do you care? I'm worried about the "one" of the thousands or millions of people that can cause grave damage. All it takes is “one” person out of the bunch to cause havoc.

My point exactly...
The terrorists know that the government has to be right on every time to prevent an attack, the terrorists only have to be right ONCE...

Thay were, 9/11 and the way our people here are, they will again. We must secure our borders and crack down on potential dangers and unless you are commiting crimes, drop the conspiracy theorist mentalities.

Using that rational, the government should monitor everyone that goes to rent a moving van; maybe if they did that, Ramzi Yousef wouldn't have have bombed the World Trade Center the first time.

Using that rational, the government should monitor everyone that goes to rent a boat; that way, maybe 17 sailors wouldn't have died in the USS Cole bombing.

Using that rational, the government should monitor the borders better; maybe those terrorists wouldn't have made it stateside in the first place.

Using that rational, airline manufacturers should have hardened doors into the pilot's cabin; maybe then, those clowns wouldn't have been able to take over those airliners.

Using that rational, we should just become a totalitarian state, one of marshal law, where a law abiding citizen's rights are frozen until this bloody conflict is said and done.

Wrong. Using that rationale the government would monitor anyone acting suspiciously, speaking to anyone with known terrorist ties. Why is that so hard to understand?
