My old job I pretty much taught myself to tig weld. The job was like a trade school, they wanted you to learn to do everything, and I was young so it worked for me. Tig welding is an artform IMHO. If I ever come across some dinero I would definately get a good Miller tig setup.
The setup we had at the table was foot pedal operated and had a radiator and was completely adjustable as far as heat and gas goes. The portable unit was very similar and had a hand actuated trigger.
Your design patented design looks good, just needs a little beef, and I'm sure you'll be on top of it.
I build f-16's for Lockheed Martin now, so I don't get to weld near as much.
