semi hijacked...but in a good way...
i like the hitchlock pin....

but in all reality i own the concept for any kind of device
that stops pin/plow theft

granted a reg padlock wont stop anyone determined..
but you have the option of your lock..your key

but the idea is mine

and thank you everyone for the positive feedback and the neg...
ideas come from all angles...

Did you expect anything besides a derail?

Dont look at it as Negative....
It's a great Idea.. No doubts about that.
Just one of the weak points that I spotted that I would want to improve.

Nothing is ever made strong enough in my eyes. Everyone says that I have to (Matt Proof Everything "AKA Beef it up") for it to hold up to my abuse and/or meet my expectations.
If an item is built with 2 braces... I'll add 8 more to mine!

if you use a hitchlock pin and that grade of stainless.. (308 hotter it gets (saw) the harder it gets)

ohh no..
your design is strong enough, it's the utilizing a pad lock is the weak point.

The weakest part on your design is right where the padlock hooks. Not much you can do about it there, it's always going to have the least material and be unbroke there. If I wanted in and didnt have bolt cutters for the pad lock with me. Before I tried to torch your piece, I'd hit it there with a cold chisel.

Deffinatly run with it... I'm just pointing out what to look at for future improvements.

Edited to add:
R&D (Research and development) are the keys to success. With out them you become stale in the water by tomarrow.

Zap,
if I remember correctly, you played a guessing game as to what your patent was going to be of...and I was the first person to guess that it would be something to do with your snowplow...so what do I win??

Ummm...Ever try to cut stainless with a torch? You would almost be better off to get down on your knees and chew it off with your teeth.

Edited to add: This looks like it will fit Myers as well depending on the space between the locking bars.

Good luck with your venture. You should find different brands to make prototypes for preproduction so you have them all covered.
