LT and Rose..thanks for the compliments and kisses for my sexy legs and ankles..
Zaairman.....you're scaring me.
Justin and Matt...shut up now
Rose...I decided that this thread is absolute garbage since I was beat by one lb. "Bob Barker" style. So when someone made a comment about me and my ankle I decided to use this thread for something usefull..LOL
So the story goes....Last saturday I was walking around checking on some boats we have in the yard and came across one I had to get up in. As I got off the boat I hopped off the back, which was no more than 3 feet off the ground, and landed on some uneven ground and rolled my ankle over really bad. I thought I broke it it went over so far. Plus, I instantly got sick to my stomach and was ready to pass out, which is usually a sign that you broke something. I limped back to my office, put my foot up and covered it with ice for the entire day here at work. ( I'm a trooper, I didnt go home..LOL) I took it easy sat. night and sunday and kept ice on it the entire time. Monday morning it was bigger than it was sunday and had some really cool shades of purple in it which now moved up to the top of my foot and all across my toes. So I decided I should go get it checked. After 4 hours in our disfunctional hospital, they determined it's not broken, but I tore up the ligaments pretty bad. So now its in an aircast and I'm on crutches for a few days ( which will be gone SOON,,they're driving me crazy) Thats my story and I'm sticking to it....

Bwahahaha
I knew we could shake it out of him.
Brew, I know your pain. That's exactly how I broke my toe last summer. Jumping down off the back of a boat at work. I didn't stop, I worked the rest of the day full funtion just had a slight occasional limp. I heard it pop but didn't really think I'd broke it, I joked that I thought it ws but didn't really think so. Till I got home and took my shoe off!
It was also my last day of the week too. I taped them together and went on with the weekend as ussual only in flip flops becasue I couldn't get a pair of shoes on it was to swollen. Hurt for about 2 weeks then started letting up, now you'd never know.

Well I'm glad nothing was broken, hope you're back to your old self soon.
I know what you mean about the crutches, they suck. I broke my ankle about 19 years ago, had to have a plate and six screws put in and was on crutches for 6 weeks then a walking cast for another 6 weeks. No fun at all

Rose..I broke my other ankle about 10 years ago. I had 2 plates and 13 screws. It wouldn't heal properly and I had all sorts of complications. 3 surgery's, bone biopsy 8 months straight on crutches and a total of 14 months out of work sitting on my ****...NOT FUN!!! I surely hope you dodnt have to go thru any of that when you broke yours.

No, mine was relatively straightforward. Surgery to place the plate and screws, cast #1. . .about a week later - removal of the staples from surgery, cast #2. . .5 weeks after that - walking cast because although the bone was pretty much healed the pulled tendons and ligaments were not, cast #3.
I spoke to a doctor about 5 years ago who recommended I have the plate and screws removed, not sure why, anyhow he proceeds to tell me I would have to be in a cast again after the removal until the bone healed around where the screws were. . .NOT!! No more casts for me unless it's absolutely necessary!!! Freaks people out though, you can feel the heads of the screws through the skin on my ankle. And my hubby gets a kick out of running the metal detector over it to make it beep
