Another Scam:
This may be old news to some of you, but today I got an email that looked like it came from Paypal saying that my account had been frozen due to a security threat and that the account would remain frozen until I verified my account details. Right away this sounded really fishy, so I closed the email and logged into my account like I normally do and it gave no indication of being frozen. Paypal has a link where you can forward suspicious emails and according to the response I just recieved...it was indeed a phisher scam. You go to the link and put in your username and password and basically they have access to all your home address info..credit card and can steal your identity. At first looks, this webpage looked dead on to Paypal's...even had the hacker safe, security blah blah symbols like you would see on the real page.
I've been getting those for about a month or so, and I don't even use PayPal. Whenever I get anything like that, I know it's a scam. I don't think there's a legitimate outfit out there that sends such e-mails. I've had them from my bank, and some banks I don't even deal with, my service provider and supposedly Trend Micro Inc (my security program provider). I've talked in person to all of them and they all say they NEVER request such information via e-mail.

I like to click on those links and then enter nice little words for the first & last names, special addresses, etc. For example:
First Name: Monstah
Last Name: Johnson
E-Mail: me@yourmommashouse.com
I also forward them to the sites they are impersonating so their fraud folks are aware of the scam - eBay is remarkably quick at shutting those sites down...
