Software question???
Thank you all for the help. I would use the cd drive to move files but that is why I got the new computer. The old one is 6 years old and still works great except the cd player will not read a file to copy it.

I like that better anyway. vader is too cool of a name to NOT use. I dont know what I was thinking.
I used AlohaBob to move my files AND settings from my old laptop to the one I currently use. It worked OK, but not great. All the sludge that gunks up your Registry gets transferred in addition to files and settings, so your new machine loses the crispness and quick response that is so nice with a fresh install of Windows. It did a fair job of moving setting from applications to the new machine, but there were some problems that took forever to resolve.
I might use it to transfer data files only, and install applications and setting manually, but that sort of defeats the purpose; at that point, you might as well use a simple connection as described in the Microsoft link.
