I understand and respect your feelings and viewpoint about the flag.

I would just suggest however that one not be assumed to be racist for flying or displaying the rebel flag

I'm not suggesting you believe that but many immediately label someone flying that flag as a racist and that is wrong.

I've got it, display it, love it...and would have fought against slavery if that were the issue.

About the same way I view all of the Jamaican, Mexican, Guatemalan, and african flags that I see. This is America, we are free to do WTF ever we want, one's feelings are not expressly protected by the Constitution.

Perpetuating ignorance is stupid. The Rebel flag does not stand for slavery, period. It never has. Successful race baiters like JJ have ruined millions of minds while collecting millions of dollars spewing garbage.

Hersh, I am not sure what you are asking. Yes, slavery was a horrible thing and needed to be eliminated. So was the segregation that came afterward, that needed to be eliminated as well. But, from what I have studied about the Civil War, slavery was almost a non-issue as to the cause. Mechanized farming was already making slavery become an economic problem for the growers. The cause for the war was primarily economics. You had an industrial North that could not afford for the South, with its agriculture, to separate from the Union and conduct commerce with Europe. The greatest reason for the war was "states rights". Though Texas had slaves, there were not very many, yet Texas joined the Confederacy to protect states rights, as did some other states. Would slavery have been eliminated as quickly had there been no war? No, but it was a secondary or even a third reason for the war. Just one that was easily focused on and could become a "battle cry".

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear...

If I have I to give up a few freedoms to save American lives, then so be it. As of now, there is no one aspect that has changed in my life as a result of what Bush is doing. If there come's a day where I can't bear arms, or drive to the library, then I'll take a stance. Until then, protect American lives whatever the cost.

That day has come and past my friend.....the political ball is rolling and I really do not think that we will be able to stop this machine.....no matter who gets into office in '08 (from the list of current potentials)....they are just going to add to the motion that is already set forth....

...Washington needs an overhaul.....and it needs one BAD......both parties do not serve their constituants....they serve the political machine and personal egos.....all at the expense of mine and your rights....
