I fully agree with the seperate lot (or back corner of the lot) idea. If people aren't loyal to their company why should the company be loyal to them? Just my opinion.

Actually I know that at certain GM plants there was a seperate lot for foreign vehicles. I know this because one of our doctors had to go there to do EMGs & started freaking out because he had his car instead of his wife's. He was asking around to see if someone in the office had an American car he could borrow so he wouldn't have to walk from the other lot with the EMG machine & everyhting else he had to take with him.

BTW, this was probably 4 years ago.

I think they should be allowed to buy whatever the heck they want... and drive it to work and park with everyone else. If Ford wants to mandate that only Ford vehicles can park in the employee lot, then they should GIVE all their employees Ford vehicles to drive to work every day.

Stupidest thing I have ever read…

Talk about grade school mentality, no wonder our society is such a mess today.

Jerry Sullivan, president of United Auto Workers Local 600, which represents about 2,600 workers at the plant, applauded Webber's move.
Well we know who Jerry Sullivan’s daddy is, it’s the plant manager, Mr. Webber.

Next thing you know Jerry will be asking Mr. Webber what type of clothes he should wear to work, what type of TV programming he should watch etc, just like a child who needs his daddy to reassure him, make him feel warm and fuzzy inside…

I see a lawsuit in the future...Discrimination. Guess i will have to ask my Business law teacher.

Im glad they did it. The only thing that worries me is now you will have the people driving fords doing the same job they always have done, maybe a bit better due to the puffery or the people driving non ford vehicles will carelessly slap crap together now at work. Ah what the heck, most did that anyways.

I think the hole idea of all this kinda makes sence to me.

a couple years ago, I was working buidling a wall in the service department of a Honda dealer. At the time I was driving a 96 Mercury Sable. I parked out front next to the service door since I was working out of my trunk for tools and what so. A couple hours went by and I was asked to move my car to the back. I was told it makes the dealership look bad seeing a Ford Vehical in a Honda parking lot. (kinda like if Honda's are so good, then why are there Ford vehicals in the parking lot) Also with me were 2 F150's but there were allowed to stay since the maneger said Honda doesn't make trucks so it doesn't scare away anyone who might be interested in a Honda) that was before the ridgeline came out.

So bassically Imagin what people think driving past a Ford Plant and seeing Honda's Toyota's, Kia's or anything else non-american. Kinda gives it a bad look. I can see why they want to put all the foreign cars in the back so it look better so when people look at the plant, they see Ford's with a Ford Plant. Makes sence to me, just like the Honda dealer asking me to move my car since it looked bad the same way.

I think this is just an example of why Ford is in trouble financially. If you make stupid decisions like that(what type of car is allowed in your lot), then I can't even begin to imagine what kind of decisions are being made in the everyday ops of the company as a whole in the front office. Maybe the employee's of Ford know something we don't.......

???

I can only imagine what Steve Jobs would do if he walks by an employee at work who is listening to an MP3 player that isn't an Ipod. Or Bill Gates seeing an employee at work running Linex. Or the CEO of Sprint catching someone using a Cingular phone.
I don't think it is an over reaction or a bad move by any means. There might be a better product than the one your company makes, but have some pride and respect for the products your company makes.

Hate to break this to some of you, but FORD is not the first to do this. I know for a fact that Chrysler has been doing this for a couple years now. Selective plants. It was a big up roar when they did it too, but they had the attitude of, if you don't like it, quit. I actually heard it on the news awhile back, besides the personal knowledge that I have of the matter.

What a Freakin joke!!

What happened to the american way, where you have the freedom of choice. Now Ford is showing why they and the "big" 3 are in trouble. Its immature and ridiculous. Maybe Ford should concentrate on making a better product as opposed to worrying about who parks where..........come on

Just another day for the 3 stooges.

Because they are not the first, IMO, doesn't make it right.

Maybe that's part of their plan to reduce head count?

I still think it's a very stupid idea.

If you work for McDonalds should you only eat McDonalds food?

Next thing you know Ford will have a parking lot for whites only, blacks only, and “others” only…

No difference, same mentality…

"buy American its the right thing to do"

funniest thing I've ever heard, then I heard Ford bans parking.......

Actually ford should fire those who drive automobiles other than Fords in addition to the 30,000 that they announced........

may as well, they're on fire
