man, what a day. I some how tore my freeken clothes hanger things off the inside of the mountaineer, now sitting at my desk trying to glue them together again! ahh!! my sun roof started rattling again, so in the process of taking the headliner down again, I broke 2 clothes hooks.!

Now, I have never had to deal with an issue like this, because in the past I could care less about the car I was driving. I don't know anything about windshield replacement/repair. So, I have a couple of questions.
1. Would it be better to have the windshield replaced, or repaired? They said they could repair it. BUT, they highly recommend replacing it because it is cracked at the very top of the windshield downward right behind the rearview mirror.
2. To repair it, it would cost me nothing. To replace it, it will cost me $50. 50 bucks for a new windshield sounds good. BUT, is that a safe route? What are my odds of leaks around the new windshield? Anyone have any experience in this?

get it replaced by someone that knows what the ...(i might as well do it myself) **** there doing...
if its insured then glass is no problem
its a safety item
...zap!
I've never seen cracked windshields repaired decently. The shop that does the install matters more than anything; go for a reputable place. Call some dealership service departments, see who they sublet their glass work out to. If the shop has their stuff together, you won't ever be able to tell the difference between old and new, minus the crack of course.
Shop around between glass places also, often you can get the owner to pay your deductable, just say "hey, cover my deductable and we got a deal"
We used to have a place in town that wanted your business so bad, they
1) paid your deductable
2) gave you a cheque for $25
3) gave you a coupon for 4 free bacon wrapped fillet mignon steaks at the local frozen place.
They don't do it anymore, now they just pay your deductable, but that's enough.

My Dad just had his replaced today. Insurance won't cover a windshield here. Too many claims from this area, they said. By the time he paid the deductible, he could get a new windshield for $50 more. Not worth it. He paid $150 installed. Not bad considering a new glass runs about $250 + Installation.
