I don't want to hijack anyones thread but I have a similar problem.

I'm having the same problem only with slightly different circumstances. I live in an apartment so I have no place to work, I'm a grad student which means I have periods where I have NO time and always have NO money to speak of. I'm about to drive my self nuts sitting at home in front of the tube in the evenings. At home I had a garage and several friends with projects going if I didn't have anything on my own to tinker with. I've tried the computer video game thing and that works for a while but not long enough to really fit the bill. It really sucks being the proverbial country boy trapped in the city. Anyone else every come up with a good solution or way to cope with this situation. I can only drink so much before it seems it also bore me (maybe I have a problem.... ) .

Thoughts?

I will graduate with an Accounting degree in May, and have found Mountain biking to be a nice activity, project to take part in. Its hard in the winter months; But in spring, summer, and fall its a lot of fun. Its not overly expensive, and is great for your health. I started off with a base model Schwinn and finally steped up to a full suspension Trek Liquid 25 a little over a year ago. Its a lot of fun to ride around campus with a few friends in the evenings or the trails in the afternoon (have even gone on a few midnight trail rides ) They are simple to mod, and requires no garage or expensive tools to work on them (was a plus when I lived on campus or in the Appt.) Basically just need an old blanket or rug or something to put on the floor and have at it. I've upgraded wheels and fixing to upgrade my braking system... The 6" Hydraulic brakes aren't cutting it for long downhill runs, so going to convert to a 8" rotor in the front and give that a try. With the bikes you are able to upgrade the suspension, components, everything... and doesn't correlate to large amounts of money at one particular time. For example, the brake upgrade will cost about $100 (A lot better than a big brake upgrade for the truck! ) I wouldn't really call it a project, just something to have fun at and become a little bit more in shape. Plus its a great stress releiver to go for a nice ride.

When the garage time comes and a consistant paying job... its time to start a rockcrawling jeep!!!

Not into dirt bikes not ATVs etc. The 1/10 gas RC car isn't my thing I like the full size stuff.

Got one of those too. Where do you think all the stress comes from.... (as I look over my shoulder to make sure she's not watching ). No she's been great the last couple years as the stress factor has increased exponentially (for those non math people thats a lot). I guess it's part stress and part homesick which I thought would subside after a few years of being away from home but I guess not. I gave up biking years ago and to tell the truth I really didn't like it much when I was a kid either although I like the suggestion. My friend at work told me I needed some weights to lift or something. His vice is computer games, but I just can't get into them. I guess I fell through the cracks as that stuff was developing and just lost interest.

*Sigh*

This too shall pass I guess.
