Motorolla Razr...

Who's got one? How is it holding up? Still as happy as when you got it?

I'm pretty close to just going and getting one, but just want to see what others have to say. I've got a friend that loves his, and everyone seems to think they are the greatest thing when they first get them, but then I never hear anything more...

My V557 has 8 days left under warranty, and I need to get it called in and replaced. If I get the Razr the fiance wants my new V557... The current one's speaker fades in/out, yes it's the phone.

So, should I get the Razr? The best deal I can find around here is $100... Is there something better I could do? Oh, I'm with Cingular, and don't care to change...

I've had mine for about a year. It is holding up great and usually gets a great signal. I bought a protector off of Ebay for both of the displays so they don't get scratched. I hate a phone on my hip so its always in my poctet. I have not found any full phone protectors I like so besides the screens being protected it is usually on my desk in in my pocket. I have a lot of different phones and this has been one of the best for battery life. There are some really crazy phones out there now but I still like my little black razr.

I've been thinking about switching to a RAZR too. My dad has one and likes it. WalMart has them for $68 and yes you can keep your account w/ Cingulair thru Wal Mart. At least that's what they told me. I heard a radio advertisement last week that it is $29 after mail in rebates thru Radio Shack.

I talked to the Wal-Mart folks, and the guy at the Cingualr shop (seperate store) said the $68 price if for new accounts ONLY. The only way they can/will give it to you for that price is if you are new or they cancel your account and create a new one. Usually with a new number. The guy at the shop said Wal-Mart around here is bad about this. They get more credit for NEW accounts this way...

Hmmm, maybe I was given bad info then. I asked and they told me I could keep my number. Who knows? I was skeptical if the girl at the counter knew what she was talking about anyway.

usually you can get it if your current contract is up and you agree to a new one...at least that is how Verizon works

I believe they will let you keep your number, but you get charged the $30 or $40 setup fee, plus (I think) another fee to keep your number... Just make sure to ask a lot of questions... The guy at the Cingular shop seemed okay with me going to Wal-Mart to get a better deal on the phone, but told me to be very careful about what how they work the contract...

Well, my contract is up, and Wal-Mart still told me I didn't qualify for $68...

Closer9, was it at the Cingulair store that you can get the RAZR for $100? I thought it was more than that last time I checked. Maybe I should check again though.

No, the $100 was from Wal-Mart - what they called the 2 year upgrade. The Cingular store wanted $160 ($200 +$50 rebate IF you got the $10 data package)

Does that include whatever fees they charge?

No, I think both places only charge an $18 upgrade fee for changing phones. I'm not aware of any other charges...

I've had my Razr for 4 months now and love it. It has excellent battery life and I really enjoy the bluetooth capability. Mine was free because I was a new customer to Cingular at the time and they were also running a special for military personnel at the same time.
