Intervention help!!
Well guys it is done!. My good friend is now in detox at a major county hospital in Buffalo. It took some doing and here's what i did to make it happen.
I went to his house Friday morning and found him drunk as **** so i put him to bed covered him up and told him I'd be back on sat morning and if he was drunk then the gloves would be coming off. He simply did not even really know i was there. So it was not use at that time to do anything so i regrouped and made another attempt at 6am sat morning not giving him any time to get wasted but before i left i took all the booze he had in the house which included 5 1/2 gallon jugs of cheap vodka, 2 cases of bush beer, 5 pints of vodka and 3 guns i knew he had stashed and when i left i removed 2 front wheels from his truck ( i only found one set of keys) so he could not get any more booze that day/night. I came back 5:30am knocked and knocked and he was still in bed i thought, i unlocked the door (i had the keys) but he had put the chain lock on so when he did not answer the door i simply snapped the chain lock and entered. I did find him laying in his bed in total disarray mentally and physically he was a mess and boy he was pissed at me. He wanted his front wheels back, the booze and thats when it all began... I told him f-no you get nothing until he got up and took a shower and changed his nasty *** clothes. He sat there for 1/2 hour before he even moved and then much to my surprise he headed to wards the shower but he was in bad shape he could barely walk, he looked like a man of 80 instead of 48 this made me mad as hell. Then i told him he had to go in and dry out and accept a treatment program and he just stared at me for what seemed like forever. He got up and told me to get the F out that he was fine and i told him he was not and he needed help and i was not leaving until he made a decision. He said what decision, i said to go to get help willingly or by me knocking him out and taking him in over my shoulder. He stared then began to breakdown slowly then totally and then said okay. I couldn't believe it but it worked.! I then told him to just grab his coat and we would go i did not want him to get any second thoughts about going so without showering or changing i loaded him up and took him in. I am so relieved he is now getting some help but i fear the fight has only begun and i am a trooper and will fight the good fight with him. While he is in detox he is allowed no visitors but i will be able to call him monday morning. When they did his blood alcohol content it was 3.7 when we got there when i left 10 hours later it was still 2.1 he was more coherent and began telling me thank you for thinking of him, this in its own brought me to the brink of tears (so much for being a tough guy) and while driving home i have to tell you maybe i am a wuss but man i cried real man tears for some time. I hope this may someday help another someone out there that may be in the same situation. All i can say is don't wait to long demand they get help and never fade after wards i think he will make it and i will let you all know what happens in the near future and thanks folks your great advice and help may have saved sombody...
sincerely Jim.

How lucky he is to have a friend like you Jim. Though he may not realize it for a while yet, when he gets his life back together he'll know what you did for him. Not everyone has a friend that will go to the edge to drag them back. Best of luck to him and bless you both. You'll both continue to be in my prayers.
If you're a wuss than so am I.
I teared up just reading.
Sometimes a man cries, but he just wont cry with out a reason.
You had more than enough reason.

Good Job Buck. I think you've cleared the first hurdle, getting him to accept theres a problem. The next hardest thing will probably be keeping him dry for the next year. I suppose if he could prove he's dried up he might get his job back. He'll need something to keep him busy and his mind off the booze. Does his daughter know what's going on? I'm sure you'll need all the help/support you can get.
Remember to take care of yourself too. Remember on those bad days if/when they happen that you've already gone above and beyond the call of duty.
You're a good man.

That guy is lucky to have a friend like you Buck. I was holding back a tear just reading that. I'm not one to cry either, but even the "toughest" of men cry. Prayers are continued to be sent.
