yes you ARE the stubborn one, because you are not fully comprehending the way the myth is worded. your just to proud to realize it, kinda funny cause you REALLY look stupid right now, bacuse you don't realize that in order for the belt to move backwards the plane HAS TO MOVE FORWARD that is the way the myth is worded , look at it again. if the plane moves forward... the belt moves the same speed and distance in the opposite direction. and if you understood the forces you would know that the force of drag involved here is WAY less than the force of thrust

The plane is moving forward , it is not tied down.

It seems you are confused. The belt moves backwards, see below. I refuse to belittle you though.

so what don't you understand about the belt moving the same speed as the plane in the oposite direction?

Exactly, The wheel bearings are the only items transferring the speed of the conveyer belt to the plane. Mythbusters just did this and the plane took off

I understand it completely. The speeds are cancalling each other out, therefore the plane is wasting forward energy, and not moving.

The MB experiment episode was obviously flawed. This does happen.

So why don't they use this conveyor ststem technology on any aircraft carriers?

you don't understand the concept. the plane will fly down the runway at the same speed, rotate at the same point, and lift off at the same point. the ONLY difference is the "ground" will be moving at twice the normal speed, so really the wheels would be spining at twice the speed, thats it thats the only difference, i will let you make a fool of yourself now

Because if a plane needs 500 feet to take off from a fixed runway, then it will need 500 feet to take off from a conveyor runway. What would be the point of adding a complicated conveyor runway?

Exactly. These guys are making it seem like the plane can be sitting still and just take off conventionally only because of engine thrust.

an no we are NOT tring to make it seem like the plane can be sitting still and just take off conventionally only because of engine thrust

bacause the PLANE WILL NOT SIT STILL!!!!!! it WILL move forward in relation to the earth

BUT the wheels will rotate on the belt making the plane act as if it's NOT MOVING. It is on the belt which is simulating the ground, but the plane is not actually moving, the belt is. The plane is stationary.
