Furniture Direct of Las Vegas

I know this is a long shot, but my wife has found a bedroom set she likes made by Lexington furniture here in NC. A local furniture store will order the item, but she found an online furniture supplier out of Las Vegas that will save us 2,000 dollars on the exact same furniture. We called the local store, and they agreed to cut the price by 1,000, but they refused to match the online store.

Anyone ever hear of or do business with a place called Furniture Direct?

Never heard of them man.....sorry.

So, the local store cut their price by 1K....eh?, but the Vegas store has it for 2K less......well seeing as how that is now a 1K difference, how much would it be to ship it from Vegas to NC? Also, will the store be liable for damages if any are incurred during shipment? With shipping and insurance(if you are made to pay for it) you may be better off taking the 1K off from the local store and taking their deal.

just my .2 cents

I thought that NC was the place to go for cheap furniture. Or should I say for good furniture at a good price.

The shipping distance is the same. Both stores order from Lexington Furniture Brands here in NC and drop ship to my house with white glove treatment for setup. The only problem is the Las Vegas company wants half the money with the order, and the other half before or at delivery by Cashier's check. The local company wants 1/3 at order, and the other 2/3 by personal check to the delivery company when they deliver and setup the furniture. Problem is, once a cashier's check it made out to someone, they are the only one's that can cash it. I could withhold the check if the furniture is damaged or wrong, but the cashier's check is already paid for and made out, so I wouldn't be able to get the money back without the company signing for it.

We are currently leaning toward the local company even with the 853 dollar premium. (I just rounded to 1000 earlier sorry!)

The biggest difference is the Las Vegas store is not charging tax, and the NC store must by law. The tax is 600 dollars, so they are really only about 350 dollars apart without the tax figured in.

I would spend the extra ka-ching and support the local business. If there are any issues they are more likely to be easily resolved due to the closer proximity.

BTW, I was in the Wilminton/Wrightsville Beach area a couple of weeks ago. The family and I had a great time but I didnt bring the Huffy with me though.

Good luck.

You can save $853 on one bedroom set?

$853 is what I spent on six rooms of furniture and most of it was already put together. Well, some of it was put together.

I got seven year financing at 23%.
Seems like everyday another table leg or drawer handle shows up in my mailbox.

Sorry, I shouldn't be tooten my horn when you just been took to the cleaners like that.

Good luck.

We have done quite a bit of business with the local company, and they claim they are cutting the cost as close as possible and still make a "bit" of profit. I tend to agree with your assessment of buying locally, but that $853 keeps coming back to nip at my wallet. Still leaning locally at this point. Going to talk to the store manager today.

Wilmingonton/Wrightsville area is not the greatest for Huffy pedaling. From a beach standpoint, that area is as nice as any depending on what you require. If you want a bit more privacy, and less metropolitan shopping areas, try the barrier islands north of Wilmingon, Emerald Isle and out onto the outerbanks.

Raoul, you comments remind me of the furnishings in the rest of our house. Don't know why she's so convinced we need an upscale bedroom set. The other one still doesn't squeak......

Personally I worry more about what the back porch looks like:

My wife tells her friends she's still married to a twenty year old.

I haven't got the heart to tell her it's a bedspring.
