Paid off truck...now some questions.

With that said....does anyone know how long it takes Ford Credit to send the title or if I have to request it. The check has posted and now cleared. I want my proof of ownership/leash relinquishment.

There is a special place on my mantle waiting for that annoying little piece of paper. Now I get to decide whether to open a new savings account for a supercharger or to be responsible and pay off the bike that much quicker. It's nice to have to choose where to spend my money for once instead of watching being taken. Oh and where can I get one of those "Don't laugh it's paid for" stickers. I wanna **** off my friends who still have that note.

Sorry for the excitement it's just I've had five vehicles and never kept anything purchased new long enough to pay it off.

It took about two months for the bank to send me the Title, along with a little note that said "...sorry for the delay, just wanted you to know what it felt like when we were waiting for your payments.".

Congrats on paying off the truck! The smart thing would be to at least put a little back in savings or investment. You also mentioned off paying on a bike, another good idea. That money will pile up fast as these trucks are very expensive.

Actually, I think it depends on the state as they have to print a new title with your name on it. In Mississippi it takes 6-8 weeks. Also, in Mississippi it is handled by the State Tax Commission. Find out who handles it in your state and give them a call. I would say atleast a month.

In Illinois it came fast, I cant remember exactly how many days but I will guess around three weeks. I was shocked at how fast it was there.

Tx you should get the Texas title from Ford Credit within 30 days of paying it off. You will get a Texas title with Ford's lien released by signature on the front. If you want a title that shows you as the owner and no lien release on the front you can take it to the county tax office (hwy dept) and re-transfer it back into you're name and the state will mail you a new one.

Same as California. I dont know what this business is about printing a new one with your name on it. In this state, they just send you the old one.

when i sent in the payoff amount to the place what finance my truck. they cashed and cleared the check. about 2 weeks later i got a bill with late fees. WTF. i called them and they said they didn't get the check. Ha, i had delivery conformation and it had cleared my bank. so after sending in a photo copy of the cleared check they sent me the title. it only took about 3 months.
Note. it was Household financing.

Most states will require them to send you the title within thirty days.

Ford Credit sent mine the same day my payoff cleared their bank.

(BTW, and not to hijack the thread...if you finance through Ford Credit to get a rebate and then pay it off within 60 days, the dealer gets screwed out of his kickback from Ford Credit for having sold it to you on the credit plan. WhenI bought my truck, there was an extra $1k off for using Ford Credit; went to my bank the day I got the first payment due notice from FC and sent the entire amount in to Ford on the day the first payment was due, then had another 45 days before the first payment was due to the bank, so I went 80 days without a truck payment. Made it a lot easier to pay off the sales tax and first year license fees...)
