I guarantee you will be happy with a Remington 870 
I've got the cheap model of it (the express) and have never had a single problem with the gun. I didn't care for the finish of the wood so I redid that myself but you can get it with a synthetic stock as well.
I got mine barely used for right around $200 with a 26" vent rib barrel
