What's the engineer gonna tell me??
As most of you know, im going thru the BBB Autoline process with my truck. I got a call today and they told me they are setting up an appointment with the dealer and an Engineer from Ford to look at and hopefully fix my truck. Do you think theres a chance in he!! the engineer is gonna have a clue as to how to fix this thing, or is it just a showing to try and keep me happy for now? Can an engineer authorize a buy back, or replacement or any other course of action to remedy this problem? Im at the point now, that im willing to just cut my loses if they will give me an 06, equipped the same as mine, with no money out of my pocket, but keep the same monthly payment for the next 5 years. I tried to trade it a month or so ago and the trade value was horrid and wasnt enough to pay it off, so I couldnt do it. Any ideas or suggestions?

Having dealt with a few field service engineers before, I can tell you that your results may vary. The one for my region is a pretty knowledgable guy; I've heard horrors stories of FSEs that didn't know their asses from a hole in the ground though. Engineers can authorize certain repairs and procedures, but I dunno if they're instrumental in the process of a buy back. I do think a large part of having the FSE come out, honestly, is to try to comfort the customer: "Oh wow, Ford sent an engineer out to look at my truck, everything gotta be better now, right?" The FSE's word is often taken as the gospel at the dealership level too. If he says it's as good as it's gonna get, then that's all their is to it, at least in the dealer's eyes.
Thats what I was affraid of.."heres the Engineer, now its all better" Well I know the routine. Its done in my business also. Guess I just have to make it clear to him that I know how it all works and im in the service business as well. I just want my truck fixed...I love this thing, but hate driving it right now, the way it is.
