Never been in production until recently to my knowledge. Concept was out awhile ago I believe...

 

Correct . . . the concept and the working test vehicles have been out for a few years. Volkswagen bought Bugatti in 1998 and introduced the concept car in 1999. The reason the car has taken so long to make it to production is that it has been problem plagued from the get go, the least of which is it was just too powerful.

After the introduction they went to Laguna Seca with a working prototype to show off it's amazing capabilities only to have the damn thing spin out of control and crash.

Work on the car for years was unable to correct a couple of major problems . . . the two biggest being that it's giant 1001 HP engine kept overheating (a couple of engines even blew up) and the car was seriously unstable at high speeds (not exactly good seeing as it was capable of 255 MPH).

Supposedly, now after 6 years, it's all been fixed and runs fine . . . however, if you ask me (and you didn't) if you had the bucks to buy one, it would be incredibly problematic.
