Cursing around your parents (How old should u b?)

I'm 36 and I still don't curse around my Mom, as if it's casual conversation.

I curse so rarely around her- I can remember the few times when it slipped out.

1.) When I was a rabid Cowboys fan and Dwight Clark made "The Catch" over Everson Walls, and the 49er's beat the Cowboys in the 1980 NFC Championship- I sais "Got-Dammmit" She and my stepdad were watching the game down the hall- and they said "Alright down there!"

2.) When the Rockets swept the Lakers 4 straight, circa 1986. When Ralph Sampson tipped that shot back in and they beat LA by one, I said "SSSSSHHHHHIIIITTTTT!!!" My mom said "What did you say?" When she came back to my room- she saw I was hurt- and let that one slide.

3.) I spilled Ice cold soda into my lap and all over my brand new car (1994). I said "Well I be Got-Damm." My Mom, Sister, Wife, and little cousin were in my car... We'd just got through seeing "Speed" as the theater was sold out to see "Lion King".

Now, that's it- except for repeatign words the baby has caught onto like "sh*t" for instance... He usues it appropriately too; as in when he falls off his mini trike- he says "Oh sh*t!" He got that from his Momma...

Anyhoo, I ask because my cousin's wife (22) was just cursing her @$$ off in front of my Mom, My Aunt, and the whole family after we got home from my uncles funeral. It was "___ pisses me off." "I told them f__k that, I'm not paying twice." "Oh, that's some bullsh*t right there."

I'm like dang- this is this girls first time meeting us all, and she's really comfortable... BUt, the next time we hooked up her mom & dad were there and she was cursing then too..

I just wonder- do you guys curse around your parents, and if so- at what age did it seem kosher to do so...?

I curse but I try to limit what I say in front of my folks. I did not let one slip till I moved out into my own house.

I don't curse around my parents....for the simple fact that I will never speak to either one of them again.....not until my mom pulls the knife outta my back and apologizes for what she did.

ANYWAY

Before that, I would say the usual curse word from time to time.

Damn
Chit
Bish
azz

But these words were used correctly. For example, if we were having a conversation about my ex-wife, it would go something like this:

"Chit, that bish can kiss my damn azz"

I wont curse around my mom, period. Now around my dad, sometimes. Usually if we're working on something in the garage for instance and I smash a finger or something I'll say something like "Chit, that was stupid". Or if he smashes his finger he'll prety much say the same thing. Not a whole lot of run on swearing going on though. BTW, I'm 37 now. Maybe started the occasional swearing around my dad at about 18. Only under circumstances similar to what described already. Then we laugh at each other for being so stupid. It's a good time.

I never cursed around my parents. I knew better. My Dad would have whupped my butt, right up till the day he died. I seldom curse, just never felt the need. Wait, when I hit a bad golf shot, I may yell DADGUMMIT!

I'll be 30 in a couple of weeks married for 10 years with 2 kids, my parents are devoted christians and I still dont cuss around them. If I cut my leg off with a chainsaw I might let one slip around dad only if mom wasnt around. But it would have to be something severe like that. My wife let one slip in front of them a few weeks ago. We were in the house no less, and I bet I didn't breath for 45 seconds waiting to see if anything was going to be said or if she could slide throu it. She apologized and got out of it. Phew... If it would have been me my dad likely would have beat me down with one blow before I could apologize.

I "spell out" curse words when I get mad around my parents. For example, "If that D-A-M-N telemarketer calls again I'm gonna jerk that piece of S-H-I-T phone out of the frikkin' wall! :o

Now that we kids are grown my mom curses around us. She dosn't have the truckers mouth. She's actually quite clever with proper usage. We kids do the same around her.

My dad doesn't curse often, but will on ocassion. I work for him and he sees me at my worst at times. When work gets real stressfull, I will let a few curse words fly. I think he understands the frustration.

I don't go around using curse words. I try to be respectable. I do use them for emphesis at time though.

I'm 31, and my 5'1" mom would still come after me!

After I bought a house I let something slip in front of her, and she started to get after me for it. So I reminded her that for years she told me I could say anything I want after I bought my own house. She quickly changed it to in my own house.
