If we were not in Iraq fighting so Bushes family and his buuddies could make record prohfits , we could use our federal reserves , but he really dosen't care about us middle lower class , he just say's what he thinks everybody wants to here and dose'nt back it up. I love our troops and feel really bad good young people are losing there lifes. But for what, The Iraq's hate us anyway. We all learn in school that history repeats itself , well ever heard of veitnam. I can go on and on , but I am so disapointed how middle america can't see through what is happening, and how Bush is using family and religin to cover up what he really is. The man is not for us, our country has gone backwards, can you see it. we had better energy conservation bill's and kickbacks in the 70's and cars that got just as good gas milage, what happened? Republican's
I stopping now getting to upset, I love this country and hate to see us this way.

There are two main topics on which I disagree with President Bush; illegal immigration and out-of-control deficit spending. Neither of these topics get much press, but both are topics on which the Republicans will surely lose the White House in 2008.

Neither of these topics have anything to do with the Bush-Bashing going on due to the hurricane, the Supreme Court judicial nominees, rising fuel costs or the war in Iraq.

Well…

I have to respectfully disagree. Iraq has very little to nothing to do with oil. First we hear from the left that Iraq was for the oil, as in very cheap oil, to basically take their oil for a very low cost.

Now it’s about making record profits, or taking their oil and charging over double for it. Not a very bright plan when you think about it and that is what one really has to do “think about it…”

Actually Iraq is about an investment in the future, specifically our grandchildren’s future. When you really “think about it” it’s not just about America’s future but the western world’s future as well.

The investment is in a semi-peace with the Middle East countries such as Iraq and other countries that breed terrorist. The reason I say semi-peace is unless someone is completely naive they know there will never be complete peace in the world. Complete peace is an illusion, a fantasy dreamed up by those who have no logic, common sense, or any type of properly functioning thought process.

It will either be a semi-peace, complete destruction of the Middle East or completely leaving them on their own to die off.

Personally I would first prefer a semi-peace. If that is not possible then to leave them completely on their own to die off. I really don’t like the option of completely destroying them and nuking the crap out of them but if that is what it takes to stop terrorism then I’ll vote for that after the other options have been tried.

Did we, America, use the Middle East? Yep, as well as the rest of the western world during the cold war. They were the playing field in the battle of the cold war so this goes back well past Bush Jr., Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, Carter and Nixion.

We also must remember the communist countries, or Eastern block, used the Middle East as well and thus the reason terrorist don’t mind killing their innocent citizens as well.

Iraq is now a part of a different version of war, it is about the war on terror and trying to correct not only our involvement with the Middle East during the cold war but all the other players. Iraq is about returning, or trying to put into place, some type of democratic society so that the citizens have much more power over their future then a few mentally ill dictators.

Until countries like Iraq have some type of society that lets in “some” information about the outside world they will never know the true America or other countries that mean them no harm. While we and others may have abused them in the past we must try to correct that or face an option nobody wants to admit which is to kill them all off to try and guarantee our own safety in a free world.

Iraq is about much, much more then just oil…

Thing I have learned from watching the news on TV during the last eight days:

The hurricane only hit black families' property.

New Orleans was devastated and no other city was affected by the hurricane .

Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.

New Orleans has no white people.

The hurricane blew a limb off a tree in the yard of an Alabama resident.

When you are hungry after a hurricane, steal a big screen TV.

The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to New Orleans. Now the city is welfare, looters and gang free and they are in your city .

White folks don't make good news stories.

Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you, instead bitch because the government hasn't given you a debit card yet.

Only black family members got separated in the hurricane rescue efforts .

Ignore warnings to evacuate and the white folks will come get you and give you money for being stupid.

From a Mc Comb Mississippi Resident

What I have seen since Katrina:

The poor and the wealthy hurt by the storm.

Black, white, Hispanic, Oriental and Indian all hurt by the storm.

Christian people giving, giving, giving.

Churches going all out to minister in Jesus' name.

Neighbors going door to door helping one another.

Thugs and hoodlums going door to door looking for someone vulnerable.

Ice and water being fought over as police tried to keep the peace.

People coming up from New Orleans taking over empty houses because shelters are full.

Out of town volunteers coming with food and staying for now a week still serving it.

The Churches all over this part of the country doing what Christians do in a crisis.

The Red Cross doing a job in the shelters.

The Salvation Army doing a great job in the community.

Four Hundred crewman from everywhere bring back the power to our homes, churches and businesses.

Lines at service stations a block to a mile long.

National Guardsman patrolling the streets of Mc Comb along with Kentucky policemen protecting us from the hoodlums and thugs of Mc Comb, Pike County and New Orleans (the most dangerous city in the world before Katrina.)

Drug dealers working outside shelters.

Doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel working tirelessly, even sleeping in the hospital to do the job God called them to do.

________WHAT I HAVE NOT SEEN; ___________

The ACLU setting up a feeding line.

People for the American Way helping in the shelters.

The NAACP doing any work whatsoever.

The American Atheist organization serving meals in the shelters.

Jesse Jackson directing traffic at the gas stations.

I could go on but you get my message. Its the Christian people with love and compassion who do the work.

The gripers in Congress should come on down and get in line to pass the water and the ice. Are you listening loafers we call Senators and Congressmen. They don't have a clue as to what this life is all about here on the Gulf Coast.

Boy I feel better now.

And thats all that needs to be said about that

I've been avoiding this thread like the plaque for a few days now. But now that I have opened it I have to ask myself and everyone else.

Who cares what should have been done. That is done and over. There is still a crisis at hand... So what should we do right this second? Why are we talking about what should have been done when there is something that needs to be done now? If anyone has the answers to how we should act during crisis situations better than our current leaders. Then what should we do now that it has happened and why are we not employing your plan right now?

Also like to give an Amen to the newbs post above me here.

This is why I am not a supporter of organized religion....since when is is "christian" to seek praise for work done in a manner which you are required to do under "christian" belief.....I can not stand all you self-righteous hypocrites out there....there are other views in this world some of which are just as "correct" as yours.....

All I want to know is how many people are going to swing on the sack of Robert Tracinski; as if his opinion is the only "true" one out there...

Who is Robert Tracinski any way? Why should we defer to his (Or his wife's) opinion about "The Welfare State".

PS- the people of New Orleans- and surrounding coastal cities- have no say in what the media decides is news worthy. I'm sure what we've seen on TV only represents 1/10th of 1% of what has really taken place down there- the good and the bad...
