Well it had to happen some day...... got beat big time by a titan !

I pulled up around 9 pm this evening with my neons on and my lil jon blaring on the stereo. I could see to my left a black titan with a fairly big guy driving it so i though nothing of it, the light turned red and so i thought well i can beat a hemi why not a titan ?! what i didn't realize was the dual exhaust he had out back We both floored it when the light turned green and i was instantly ahead by 2 cars, i thought i was winning then moments later whoosh he passed me and went 4 to 5 cars ahead, i wanted to cry

So the next stop light i asked what he had under the hood, he answered with a very ****y 'everything u can buy for this beast' and then he took of again.

I really did not realize how fast they actually are, this was my first titan to race and def not my last, i wanna see if i can beat a stock one i think i can hopefully.

The f150's are still cooler though !!! even if the titan is alot faster !

 

Yup. Titans are pretty damn fast but they fall apart.

thumper why are they so much faster ? we have 300 hp stock and they have 305 hp, we have a 5.4 they have a 5.6 yet they still out run us by alot !? is it the power to weight ratio ? how much do titans weigh compared to us ?

Im not sure but they weigh less and they are tuned pretty agressive from factory. Theres a lot of things that could be factors. I don't know what kind of gears they have from factory either which could help out A LOT. I have a friend with an ext. cab Titan 4WD, it hauls ***, and it has an AWESOME stereo for stock other than that it has nothing.

 

they also have a 5spd. which lets them run longer in an optimal power band... i'd still take my ford any day though- love it!

 

Well bigyellewtruck1, like thumper said thier tuned pretty good from factory, even though just like our trucks they have throttle-by-wire, but according to some other members they say that ford made ours a little looser than the titans so we have better control to the road meaning we don't slip or burn-out on pavement (that sucks) while the titan picks up speed quicker. The Screw cab titan is about 300-500 lbs lighter than the F-150 Screw cab, depends which one you got. And the main reason there faster but some people on here don't agree is that the titan makes 305 HP @4,900 RPMs and 379 TQ @3,600 RPMs and shifts at just a little over 6,000 RPMs, which means the titan makes peak power and holds it for a little over 1,000 RPMs before it shifts. F-150 makes 300 HP @5,000 RPMs and 365 TQ @3,750 RPMs and since we shift at 5,000 RPMs we don't reach peak power and we are not able to hold that power for even 100RPMs. But there is so much for us than the titan in the aftermarket world.

 

I would take a 10 year old F150 with no air over a titan.

 

Oh and they have dana44 gears stock.

The real reason the Titan is quicker is gearing and weight not engine output.

F150:

1st gear 2.84 x 3.73 rear axle = 10.59 final drive
2nd gear 1.55 x 3.73 rear axle = 5.78 final drive

Titan:

1st gear 3.83 x 3.36 rear axle = 12.87 final drive
2nd gear 2.37 x 3.36 rear axle = 7.96 final drive

If we had similar ratios they would be much closer in performance.

Looks like changing gears then ! i got 33's on now so i'm thinking 4.56 from ford racing i saw them for $170 so looks like a cheap upgrade. I know what ur gonna say installation is gonna cost hundreds of dollars but i have someone to do my work for free [i'm really [lucky] will it make a really big diffrence 4.56 over my 3.55's ? remember i have 33's on it now so what am i looking at performance wise ?

 

Yes, it will make a substantial difference in acceleration.
