The Screw cab titan is about 300-500 lbs lighter than the F-150 Screw cab, depends which one you got. And the main reason there faster but some people on here don't agree is that the titan makes 305 HP @4,900 RPMs and 379 TQ @3,600 RPMs and shifts at just a little over 6,000 RPMs, which means the titan makes peak power and holds it for a little over 1,000 RPMs before it shifts. F-150 makes 300 HP @5,000 RPMs and 365 TQ @3,750 RPMs and since we shift at 5,000 RPMs we don't reach peak power and we are not able to hold that power for even 100RPMs. But there is so much for us than the titan in the aftermarket world.

yup...ford's need more help from the after market to beat stock trucks....Titan-hemi

Do gears (4.56) make diff ? Hell yes
My budy has the same truck I have except he's is RED but we both have tunners intake and Exhaust and my tire's are about 1/4 in smaller he has 3.73 and i spank him even with my wheel hop
He also has E-fan's and under drive pullys

hwm Your right gears do help, but thats not the reason were slower. You can have all the 4.56 gears you want, if your not reaching peak and holding that power for or as long as the truck can, your not going to win, unless you put more power. With the gears you'll get off the line quicker than before, but if you get a tuner and raise your shift points to like 5,500 or 6,000 so you can reach and hold peak power, you'll be closer to beat a stock titan, in fact you most likely will and with out adding more power.

Your assuming that there is more power to be had by spinning the engine faster. From what I have read, the highest shift point guys are going for is 5400RPM with a tuner, not 6000.

Gearing IS the reason the F150 is slower. We would have to run 4.56 gears to get close the Titans 1st and 2nd gear final drive ratios. That is why they will beat you off the line.

I have a buddy with a Titan, and we have run them a few times. From a stop, he pulls away from me pretty easily, but if we go from a 25-30mph roll, we stay pretty even.

When 2014 rolls around and a 2004 Titan and a 2004 F150 are both ten years old and each has 150,000 miles on it, the F150 engine will be in much better shape. The number of revolutions that an engine can make is finite. The fact that the Titan engine runs at such high RPM's while the F150 engine shifts at 3750 means that it will take the F150 many more miles for it's engine to turn the same number of revolutions. With both engines running at their highest RPM, F150 at 3750 and Titan at 6000, it will take the F150 60% more miles to reach the same number of revolutions. The Ford engine in built to last...but then why would Nissan build an engine to last? The rest of the truck will fall apart before it hits 200,000 miles.

Where are you getting your info? Are you just pulling numbers out of the sky?

For comparison:

Titan RPMs at 75mph = 2222 RPM
F150 RPMs at 75mph = 2056 RPM

Just so I'm clear, I wouldn't trade my F150 for a Titan. The amount of misinformation just gets old after a while.

Not that I was racign him..

But, I sat at the light at the corner of Haverwood & Dallas Parkway- headed north when an Armada rolled up next to me. My flowmasters rumbled confidently- the Armada sat silently.

I had no intention of racing him- and when the light turned green- all I can say is- it's a dam good thing I wasn't racing him either. We both took off, but that big SOB took off like a jet. No way could my F-150 have paced him had we been racing... It would not have even been close... My Expedition woudl have gotten its **** kicked too; if not kicked worse...

I read the specs again- and the Armada runs 0-60 in 7.2 seconds.. The Titan in 7.1 seconds...

As far as trucks & full-size SUV's go; they're pretty much Hot ROds from the factory- tweaking them will only make them more powerful & faster. (Exhaust, intake, K&N- sublte changes- and they could hit 7.0 if not high 6's...
