Ethanol ie Moonshine

I have done alot of research over the past few days about Ethanol. Ethanol is an alcohol and is Moonshine. E85 and E10 refer to the amount of ethanol in the mixture at the gas pump. E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Automakers are putting out vehicles that have the specific programming in the engine chip to recognize ethanol percentages. After market chips are becoming available to optimize fuel comsumption in present vehicles.

A permit from the ATF for an ethanol processing plant is simple to apply for and get. I am in the process now of doing so. I have found a still design that with make 4 to 5 gals an hour of 196 proof ethanol off corn mash. The other 4% water is easily dried out for a pure 200 proof product. http://running_on_alcohol.tripod.com/index.html. The man on the webpage pasted away but his daughter is still selling the plans. The link to the ATF forms on his site are no good. This is the current link: http://www.ttb.gov/forms/pdfs/5100/f511074.pdf.

One of the issues with ethanol is cold weather cranking. In colder areas you may have to construct a pre-heater for the fuel that shuts off at running temp. I guy I knew that drag raced had this setup on his chase truck and ran the pre-heater constaintly in his 454.

BEWARE!!! Making moonshine (ethanol) is very dangerous!!! Head all saftey precausions. Do not drink this stuff. 196 proof ethanol WILL dehydrate the mouth and throat tissues (burn) and can cause you a slow and painful death.
