Fox news had said Bush asked opec i believe to lower the cost of crude oil by 20% in this time of disaster. I think they said they buy them for $4 a barrel and are selling them for $70. Now thats a hell of a markup.

That is one of the smartest things said in this whole thread.

You cant boycott some thing you need.

You can boycott a buisness or corporation, But its impossible to boycott an entire industry that sells a product that you must have.....DUH

If you boycott on thursday???? SO what? Every one will fill up the night before, then they will fill up on friday.

At the end of the week, It wont matter.

As far as Bush opening up the reserves, It wont make any difference.

All the reserves are crude oil. If we lost the refinarys, all the crude in the world wont help.

Gotta love those FORWARD TO EVERYONE emails.

If you really want the oil companies to choke on their stockpiles then we all should go out and buy a bicycle and never buy another drop of gasoline.

But wait, that wouldn't work either. The oil companies would just sell their stockpiles of gasoline to China.

The price of Gas goes up.

You pay the price they ask for it.

It's called FREE ENTERPRISE.

It's also in short supply, which helps that FREE ENTERPRISE.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

And don't ever come up with a product that everyone will want and then charge more then it costs you to make it or I'll organize a "National Boycott Scotwms Day".

Wanna take a ride? If people are willing to pay $3.50 for a gallon of gas, you might as well put some of it in your pocket.

So far this one is flying under the radar. Read the 7:00PM news release.

I’d rather pay 3 or 4 bucks or whatever a gallon and have it available than have it priced low and be unavailable

Pass along the news, tell everyone you can and let me know how it works out. Good luck!

I was telling my wife tonight that if I see one more e-mail or post of some sort talking about gas prices compared to water prices or a boycott of gas for a day, I think I may throw up...wait.....I think.............yep, I just threw up in my mouth. Damn.

i heard of a new way to do the same thing kind of

if everyone doesnt buy gas for one year from exxon or mobile stations
then it will cause gas wars
if everyone tells 10 people and those ten tell ten and ect...........
then in 8 days 300 million people will be boycotting those stations
it has worked for other things and it will work for this
the last time we had a day set or the nation not to buy gas the oil companies just laughed and said oh well
you must remember on any givin day an oil company after all expenses are payed still makes over 225,000 a day

I still fail to understand how boycotting certain gas stations will cause all gas companies to lower prices.

Most of our oil comes from OPEC members who set the price on crude.

Every one seems to think that gas companys are greedy for making $225,000 a day.

They own thousands of oil wells, Hundreds of Storage facilities, Dozens of refineries, and a whole fleet of Trucks and super tankers. The have thousands of employees. With all those assets, what do you think they should be making per day for a net profit??? $300?

You really need to try to grasp the concept of "Supply and demand"

The only way to reduce gas prices is by reducing consumption.

Boycotting gas stations will only cause the local owners of that franchise to go broke. Its not his fault.

If Bush gave a **** about anything here he wouldn't be on this extended vacation. His family in no way is affected by the gas hikes. They are well taken care of. Why not dip into the reserve. Isn't that what it is there for? The guy doesnt care about this useless war that has killed 2,000 of our soldiers. What have we got out of it. He has yet to find WMD as he stated for a reason for starting the war. I am glad I didnt vote for that yo yo. When Clinton was in office 10 years ago I paid $.99 cents a gallon in high school.

One quick thing...no political diatribes are needed as the President has been back in D.C. and co-ordinating the potential vote (now passed) on budgeting for relief and rebuilding of Katrina's victims.

Next time shut up and read the news since he's been back in the Oval Office long before your little spiel for a return of the days of the Clinton administration.

I'll be good now (That's to the Mods )

Wow

Well i could talk forever on this subject and put all you nubs to shame on how little you really know about this.

All i have to say that hasnt been said is that i will refuse to pay more than 3$ a gallon. Gas went up 20 cents last night/ this morning and it put it up to 2.99
I gassed up on Wed at 2.78! and now its 2.99

Ne who i live aprox 6 miles from work and am seriously willing to ride my bike to work everyday until prices dip back under 3.00

Hey ill save money on gas maybe i can get some mods done now Haahaha

But seriously I DRAW THE LINE AT 3.00

Maybe others will follow my example. I will keep the interested posted on my progress.

Lataz,
-Patrick

Not buying gas on any particular day does absolutely nothing. It is a feel good measure that is just that, it makes some people feel good about doing something that has NO effect.

If you “really” want to do something that has an affect, even though small, take a day off from work and do not drive anywhere or if you normally go somewhere on the weekend that requires you to drive DON’T go and sit at home. Those are two things that actually do something with having an affect.

Point being is if you normally use 15 gallons of gas in a week you have to reduce that down to something lower. If you do nothing but delay when you buy gas like this Sept. 10th feel good day you have accomplished nothing.

No, boycotting particular gas stations, like Shell, or whoever has no effect either IF you still end up using the same amount of gas.

It amuses me how some people really think skipping a day to buy gas or buying it somewhere else is going to do anything to either lower prices or teach someone a lesson. Only one way to do that which is to use less gas…
