Well since Tuesday I have a meeting with a Ford Rep to see what they're going to do with my truck. As in if they have any idea how to fix it or if they're going to just buy the damn thing back. Now Im hoping I'll be able to get another F-150 but only black this time with black leather. Im just a little leary on another one so Im making sure they'll let me take it home for a week and drive it just so I know theres nothing wrong with it. Im always thinking and making sure I have back-up plans so thats where I need some help. I want to know if I wasn't to get a F-150 and keep in mind whatever I get Im lifting it so what should I get? Rangers, Tacomas, Colorados, Canyons are out of the question. Im thinking Tundra Access Cab TRD, GMC 1500 EXT Cab 4X4, Tahoe or Yukon. Any more suggestions?
I'm thinking the 2004's were not so good. Other than not having any power (solved quite nicely by the XCAL2, AF1, & Gibson exhaust) and not having the quality of a German product, I've had no major issues. No vibrations, no CEL's, no recalls, no leaks, etc... The only thing I can mention is intermittent hard starting. I still haven't received a decent answer from Ford for that one...
6 (7 including me) guys I work with have 04 & 05 F150's, 2 04's & 4 05's. Both with the 04's have too many problems to list. All of us with the 05's have been trouble free other than the lack of power. One guy broke a wheel in a pot hole from hell, but that's not a quality problem. That pot hole would have *****ed up ANY wheel.
I will say that the treatment I've received from Ford dealers (the absolute worst, of any company, I've ever dealt with) has made me want to never buy anything Ford makes ever again. I have not one good thing to say about any of the 5 dealers I've done business with.
KC-10 FE out...

I'd try to get them to order you an '06 Thumper. I had 2 '04's that were eat up with all the problems and my 05 has had a few little problems but no vibe or nibble thank God. Maybe the third model year will be the charm, surely they have this stuff worked out by then.

Sorry, it just gets on my nerves when people post they don't have problems with their 04 and I do.

04 FX4, no problems here!
Just kidding. My fuel door is hosed, air bags hosed, throttle response is laughable and I'm worried about the transmission. Really fries me too--I leased a Ranger and two F150s before I got out of the leasing game and bought this one. I didn't have any problems with the first 3 trucks, this one is starting to worry me.
What about a SuperDuty? If that doesn't work, Nissan would be my 2nd choice, and GM third.

My dad just bought an '04 Chevy Silverado and it seems a lot more comfortable than my Lariat. Better seats, better ride, easier to get in and out of, easier to reach the stuff in the bed, better dash layout, I could go on. I've owned Fords all my life, never owned a GM vehicle (until 2 weeks ago when I bought an '89 GMC 7000 bucket truck). But after riding/ driving 500 miles in my dad's Chevy, I'd have to seriously consider it. Ford has veered off the track in my opinion. The new trucks are so much less functional for me, and reliability issues have gotten out of hand. I can no longer blindly proclaim Ford as 'The Best' because they are not. If I had to choose between my decked out '02 Lariat and my dad's lower trim line Silverado (comparable to an XLT), I'd probably give the nod to the Chevy. Mostly because it still shifts like a truck instead of Ford's screwed up, torque-delayed, hesitant-throttle, downshifting, over-revving, noisemaking, crappy transmissions.
I'm afraid I'm close to making up my mind to sell my '02 Lariat and start looking for either a GM or whatever. I'd venture to say that after my last two F150's, my next pickup most likely will not have a Ford emblem.

Im not sure if anyone can help me with this but If I get a GMC 1500 Sierra. I was looking at the SLE and SLT models. Im guessing this is like the XLT and the Lariat. The MSRP for the SLT is like $39K with all the options on it but you can get everything added to the SLE that the SLT has and it came out to be about $36K What gives?
Your best bet is to find a Chevy forum to ask that question. I could tell you all about the Ford trim levels, but I'd guess most here have significantly less knowledge about the Chevy trim levels.
OH, and try shopping used. My dad paid $18K for an '04 2wd extended cab with 28K miles. Had everything he wanted except leather seats, and he's having those installed next week.

This thread amazes me. Im not trying to be an *** or anything so think what you want. But...If life doesnt always go your way or things dont always work out the way you want them to...or if bad things happen what do you do? Do you pull through and look for the good or do you just decide to hang things up and let life slip through your hands?
I dont understand why you would consider buying any other brand just because you have had some minor problems with your truck. I swear i remember you telling others that were constantly b*tching about their problems to suck it up and deal with it. Now it seems it has caught up to you and your the one to vent. Maybe i would have a different point of view to this if my 05 had problems like yours. My dads 04 has had the rear end cover replaced 3 times because it kept leaking and his computer reflashed. Simple things but every vehicle is going to have flaws.
To each is his own and i wish you the best of luck with your decision. GMC makes a solid truck im sure. I dont mean to bash you thumper cuz i think your a pretty cool **** from knowing you from this website and your truck looks pretty awesome. Just my 0.2 cents you would pry rather not have heard.
