Three days ago at the local Shell station it jumped from $2.16 to $2.26 for 87. I thought that was bad. But here's the kicker... Today at the same station it is $2.38 for 87. Can you believe it?

this makes no sense, say a gas station buys there gas for $2.10 a gallon and fills up there big underground tank and sells that gas for $2.15 a gallon(i'm just making these numbers up because i have no idea what they mark them up and they dont need to be accurate for my question). then the price per barrel of oil goes up and then they raise the price per gallon to $2.25(or whatever they feel to) WHEN ITS THE SAME DANG GAS IN THE TANK THAT THEY PAID $2.10 FOR!! i just dont see how they can raise the price of gas on whats already in there tank just because oil prices went up, why not wait until the next time they need to fill there tank up?

I can't speak for corporate owned stations, but my father owned a Shell station for over 20 years. He bought gas about twice per week. When the gas was delivered, he had to write a check right then and there, to the truck driver. If the price of gas had gone up 10 cents per gallon since the last time he bought gas, just where do you think he was supposed to come up with the money to buy the next load of gas? The gas suppliers don't accept credit cards.
