If want a diesel get a Powerstroke...bottom line.
What problems are you talking about?
My first thought is to call you and idiot. But that would be VERY rude and judgmental. To say you want to trade a perfectly good truck because other people are having issues with the same vehicle is just not logical thinking. You have to understand how little a group of people are on these boards who own F150's. It is so minute it is laughable. Have you tried a Super Duty? If you need the towing capacity of course upgrading to a diesel is not a bad idea but just to trade because you want a diesel is the wrong reason. Diesel trucks are incredibly expensive to upkeep. Ask anyone how much a diesel oil change is? it is probabaly 2 to 3 times what your gas engine oil change is. Plus even thought there are good deals now you will still loose the small amount of equity you have in your truck. Having a truck that is paid for is far better than a truck that you owe money on.

I heard somewhere that Chevys have a few problems too. The JD Power rankings came out two weeks ago, and Ford ranked ahead of Chevy, Dodge, and Nissan in the category of problems per 100 vehicles. Reading these threads would make anyone want to sell their Ford. After a few days of reading "my truck squeaks, my truck rattles, my truck vibrates, my truck gets hot inside when I leave it in the sun, my A/C is too warm, my A/C is too cold, my engine is hot to the touch after I drive 50 miles", I want to get rid of mine too. It's like walking around the hospital and deciding that everyone in the world is sick or dying.
Buying a truck, or any vehicle for that matter, is more about asthetics than anything else, so if you like the looks and "feel" of the Chevy better, then enjoy your new truck. Chevys are great trucks, I just would not use the fact that they are more reliable as a justification, because service records show that is not the case.

Both have around 70,000 miles on them and both have had to have the engines either overhauled or rebuilt. The starters just went out on both vehicles within months, he just replaced the rear axle seals, major brake problems, etc. If you want to really know how these trucks hold up try these sites:

Pickup Trucks — Facts
The best-selling vehicle in America is a pickup—the Ford F-Series. In fact, the top three best-selling vehicles in 2003 were pickup trucks, according to auto analyst J.D. Power and Associates. Consumers now think of pickups as legitimate—and, in some cases luxurious—people movers . . . with plenty of room in the back for serious cargo.

My buddy's Chevy is such a pice of you-know-what I teased him that he should buy my '98 f-150 from when when I was selling it to buy my '05. In 7 years I spent less than $600 on items other than tires, oil, brake pads, battery, etc. I had to have the plugs and wires changed and I had a rear axle seal start leaking.
