Just got back! WOW, fishing was great! Got 2 Kings and a bunch a reds, plus several halibut. Didn't see any bears but there were a bunch of moose. Didn't have to use any Deet as the bugs were not bad at all. Spent 2 days in Anchorage area with wifes high school girlfriend then spent 2 days on the cook inlet Nilnilchuk area, then spent the rest of the time on the Kenai river! Will post pics as soon as I can. Sure was a bitch sleep with 24 hr daylight! Weather was in the 70's the whole time, no rain. Spent one day in Seward on a 1/2 day cruise around the glaciers, saw humpback whales etc.

ALASKAN RETIREMENT

Jack had been in the liquor business for 25 years.
Finally sick of the stress he quits his job and buys 50 acres of land in Alaska as far from humanity as possible. He sees the postman once a week and gets groceries once a month. Otherwise it's total peace and quiet. After six months or so, of almost total isolation, someone knocks on his door. He opens it and sees a huge, bearded man standing there.

"Name's Lars, your neighbor from forty miles up the road. Having a Christmas party Friday night... Thought you might like to come. About 5:00."

"Great", says Jack, "after six months out here I'm ready to meet some local folks. Thank you."

As Lars is leaving, he stops. "Gotta warn you...... There's gonna be some drinkin'."

"Not a problem" says Jack. "After 25 years in the business, I can drink with the best of 'em."

Again, the big man starts to leave and says: "More 'n' likely gonna be some fightin' too."

"Well, I get along with people, I'll be all right.
I'll be there, Thanks again."

"More'n likely be some wild sex, too," says Lars.

"Now that's really not a problem" says Jack, warming to the idea "I've been all alone for six months! I'll definitely be there. By the way, what should I wear?"

"Don't much matter ..... Just gonna be the two of us."

Nice. Glad you had a safe trip.

I'm headed up to Alaska for 2 weeks this Sunday but on business.
I'm going to the appropriately named Dead Horse. I think the only place further North is Barrow.

Pics when I get back.

Adam, I'm in Deadhorse right now. The weather finally is getting better out. Supposed to hit 65 today. Sun won't set until the 29th of July. Barrow is mainly west of us, but is a little furth north.

After you leave the airport, there will be a white building with blue trim on your left as you drive towards the lake. We are just in front of the Arctic Caribou Inn. That is my business/house. You'll see my 20' boat and possibly my '03 supercrew in the parking lot. Swing by and say hi if you get a chance.

I'm a born and raised Fairbanks boy that can't wait to move back to Alaska from Vegas. We are moving back in August when my wife finishes up her last summer semester at UNLV.

Congrats on your catch mkin, glad to hear you had good weather and a fun time. Enjoy!

Would you believe that the stores up there wanted $16.99 a pound for king crab, hell I can get it down here (on sale) for $11.99. Sam's club has it every now and then for $9.99.

Hey, I'd love to get together sometime. That would be the furthest North F150online GTG ever.
I'll be at the Schlumberger camp for about 10 days so we should be able to do something.

How big are the Skeeters? How many gallons of repellent should I bring?

I know a few folks over at the Schlumberger camp. We do work for them throughout the year. You'll definately see some caribou while you are here. As for the skeeters, they can get worse than you could even imagine when the wind is calm and the weather is above 42 F. Just picture swarms from head to toe, and swatting somebodies back will kill about 10-20 bugs. We were in the truck the other day and we could hear the mosquitoes hitting the roof and windows. It sounded like faint rain drops. They are real dive bombers because they are adapted to getting their blood from caribou, bears, fox and other thicker skinned animals. If you are doing a lot of work outside, I'd recommend bringing a can of repellent along.

My brother will be up on the 25th of July. He is a F150online member as well, so we could actually have a get together with 3 members at the northern most drivable point in the world. Only one F150 though, and it isn't going to win any show and shine contests!

I'll drop you a line with my number.

Jerry
