133 Mpg* Mod Free!!!
This thread is inspired by all of the other threads I have been reading asking how to get better economy with their F150...
First of all, yes it is true, I GOT 133 MPG* with my completely stock F150. I was able to determine this using my ScanGauge. I still have the completely restrictive stock intake, exhaust and PCM on my truck, but with a little perseverance and ingenuity, I was able to achieve every tree-huggers dream... 100+ MPG...in a tank. See proof below:
* Granted, I was coasting down a very long steep hill...how else do you expect a nearly 3 ton truck with a large thirsty V8 engine achieve more than 18 MPG consistantly...
(please excuse my rant...I am a bit annoyed at people who purchase big trucks/SUV's and expect them to get economy that is comparable to a car)

Funny how outdoorsman with their trucks love the environment as much or more than the eco-nuts.

You have driven my point through the heart of this thread. This weekend I got into a very lengthy "debate" with one of these eco-nuts about this very subject. Her resolve was to make it so that everyone was driving something like an Insight and to completely outlaw anything larger than 4-cyl engine.

I believe it was Popular Science that had an article about getting small cars to get over 100 MPG. They found the best way was to: full throttle accelerate to about 50 mph (faster and wind resistance becomes a significant factor), put car in neutral, turn off the car, coast back down to 15 mph, bump start (pop clutch) the car, and repeat the cycle. The test car was a Honda Civic, and they were getting close to 125 mpg on level ground.

My car has a 1.3L engine, and I often don't see 18mpg...usually sits around 17.5 in town, 20-21 on the highway.

My favorite self righteous tree hugger argument was with some chick who drove a beat up old hyundai. She was telling me that I was being irresponsible and contributinbg to destroying the enviroment by driving my truck. I told her that the quart of oil leaking out of her badly maintained POS every other day into the parking lot wasn't helping the enviroment either. Then she went back to using disposable plastic labware like there was no tomorrow and pouring chemicals down the sink.
