If the damn lady in the civic would not have been illegally traveling (not passing) in the left lane, I wouldn't have had to cut her off...the old bitty...

And YOU being the "chaser" would have been just as at fault as the car being chased. Its the same as if you had been racing him and he hit someone and killed them....BOTH of you would have been charged equally.

This is all very true. I'm fine though and so are all others involved, atleast for now. When they find these guys they will be screwed. But, once more I understand I did wrong. I have learned in this situation if and god willing this better not happen again. I will get the plate and call it a day.

Has anyone other than me noticed that the cops have had this guy's plate numbers for a while, and nothing has been done so far? This is prime example number 1 as to why you can't just trust the police to do their jobs. Obviously, as is the case here, they're not going to, they're going to give a big runaround until it's not even worth calling them anymore...
Guess they're too busy harrassing people, now that is something that I know for a fact that happens quite a bit in Houston, where you get pulled over and searched by two or three different cops in one night because you had loud exhaust...That's right, pulled to the side of the road, standing in the rain, watching them tear open my owner's manuals to my truck and throw it outside on the ground, because I had no muffler...I guess they thought I had the muffler stashed in there or something...Anyway, didn't mean to hijack here, just throwing out an interesting observation that he gave them the tag number and they still have no leads...

unless it was stolen

they certainly drove it like it was

Back in 1990 I was coming out of a store and I see some guy walking away from my car wearing my sunglasses and carrying my stereo. he saw me and hauls a$$ and jumps into a truck w/ 2 of his buddies. I chase them out of the parking lot and about 1 block down the street just far enough to get there license plate number. That was all I was after because I wasn't going to chase them thru town. Anyway, I got the plate number and called the cops. They came out and made a report but said there wasn't anything they could do because the address was in the next town. WTF is that? It was the same county, cant the county sheriff do something? Nope. Needless to say, I never saw my glasses or that stereo again. However the cops did give me their address. I must stop the story here so I dont incriminate myself.

That's difficult because a bullet won't penetrate a tire easily. I've shot at several dryed out and rotted tires in a junk pile, Some with air ans some not. Using pistols, high powered and high caliber rifles and 1 out of 100 shots might punture them. That's only one of those hollywood myths done only in the movies. Most of the time the bullet just explodes on impact. On the street from a moving vehicle at a moving vehicle especially while trying to drive at a high rate of speed. Not going to happen. You will miss and the bullet is likely to richochet of the pavement and hit an innocent by standard, then you face man slaughter.

What are you shooting them with???? A wrist rocket?

A bullet WILL definently take out a tire. As long as you hit it in the side wall with some thing bigger then a .22 you should be able to puch through 3/4th of an inch of rubber, no problem.

It may not be true 100% of the time, But I assure you its not " A hollywood myth"

When you do it let me know.

Edited to add:
There is a funny story here,
About 3 years ago there was a young cop intown that had pulled over a guy in wal-mart parking lot. He was a rookie and a regular Festus. Wanted so bad to prove himself and try to make a name for himeself it wasnt funny. Any way he pulled this guy over and it went a rye. The guy decides to leave before it's time so this rookie pulls out his 9mm Glock "LOL" and tries to shoot out the tires. IN THE MIDDLE OF WAL-MART PARKING LOT DURING THE "F'in" DAY! With pedestrians and by standers every where. Needless to say he is no longer with the department. His reason for discharging his gun.. "The perp. was trying to run him over. he felt his life was in danger" (Then shoot him in the head moron!) Needless to say no one else bought that story either. If your scared for your life you don't try to shoot tires.
BTW he was standing next to the car less than 5 foot away and it didn't work for his 9mm pea shooter any better than it did with my Win .300 mag rifle or any of my other rifles or pistols, big or small, high power or high caliber. I've shot them with almost every civilian gun at one time or another. I am a fairly avid gun collector/trader.

When I was younger I was convinced that it shoud beable to do it too so I kept trying. I forgot to take into consideration that the rubber has 35 psi pushing on it from the other direction. Thats like shooting a brick wall. A flat tire absorbs the blow and will not punture either. Took me a while to figure out teh pysics of it. WARNING!!! DO NOT TRY IT WITH FMJ! They just richochet off inflated or flat tires.

Edited again to add:
BTW I love that clip in your sig. it is so funny when Vin acts like the car gets a boost or is moved in any way by the tail light being shot out with 12ga 000' buck shot. LOL

Im going to have to try to prove you wrong. As soon as I come across some one who deserves to get his tires shot out, I will test this and report back.........unless your right and the ricochet kills me.

I know, I love that sig too

What are you shooting Full metal jackets out of?

Edited to add:
If you really want to try it... Go to a salvage yard and get any old tire and rim for about $5. Stand it up in a field against a tree and start squezzing the trigger at it. It's a fun experiment and a cheap target too.
