One for the good guys ...

AFA suspends Ford boycott for six months

Following a meeting with a group of Ford dealers on June 5, AFA has suspended its boycott of Ford Motor Company until December 1, 2005. In the meeting, the dealers asked for time to see if the concerns raised by AFA in their boycott announcement could be addressed by them in cooperation with officials from Ford Motor Company.

AFA felt that the dealers were making a good faith effort and agreed to accept their request. Therefore, the suspension request was accepted by AFA. During the remaining period AFA will work with the dealers in attempting to resolve our differences.

We urge those supporting the boycott to disregard the boycott until December 1, 2005.

On or about December 1 we will notify our supporters as to status of the boycott.

Thanks to all who contacted their local dealers. Your involvement made a difference!

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

And yaw said boycotts don't work ... Again the right wing Christians speak out.

I'm glad the AFA rethought this.

If their boycott goes ahead, they would be hurting a lot of dealers and their employees who may not agree with Ford but have no choice (you spend $10,000,000 on a Ford franchise, you are certainly not going to walk away over a religious disagreement)

It could have cost a whole lot of people their jobs over a very small donation.

OK, Mighty, I'll bite.

Q. Why did AFA go after Ford and not Jag or Land Rover directly. They really do not know if Ford is involved with the day to day affairs at the two divisions, or if they allow them to operate independently

A. The knew very few Jag or Land Rover owners would pay any attention to their agenda. They knew that there were enough people sympathetic to their agenda in the Ford market, so they took that angle. If Jag dealers were telling FoMoCo what Ford dealers should be able to do, Ford dealers would be livid. In the long run, the most accurate voting system on the planet (capitalism) will prevail. If Jag and LR sales go up during the promotion, it will stay. If they do not, Ford will try something else. The AFA's whining will have nothing to do with it.

It's kind of a stretch calling the AFA the good guys. This thinking is the same kind of Christianity that brought us the slavery of Africans (justified by the bible), bred the hate that led to the lynching of "colored folks" not long ago in the south, argued against women being involved in politics and argued against inter-racial marriages in the 60's. It's quite a legacy.

It must be nice to be able to pass judgment on others so easily. You still never answered any of the tough questions from the other thread... it's your credibility. Nothing in here was aimed at insulting you specifically, I'm simply responding to the subject, so please, do not be offended.

Totally ignorant statement ... I've not read such an anti-Christian false
accusation since the Klan claims to be a Christian group. Come on man ,
you don't really believe that do you. That ranks right up there with
Santa and the Easter bunny.

I'm not sure , Ford either owns them or owns the biggest part of them.

AHHH the joy....well on the way to another locked thread that could otherwise be an enjoyable discussion. Can't we all just get along!?! I severely dislike lots of people's views on things, but by crackys when I see someone in a Ford truck, I feel a common bond with them...let's not tear that down okay?? Please?? Lots of folks on here I wouldn't agree with, but man they've got sweet trucks.

I agree with a lot of the things today's conservative Chrsitians believe. I guess what I don't understand is why you can't live life your way and allow others to do the same? What is it that makes you so great, that you should be allowed to enforce your beliefs on others?

It is your right to believe "Jesus says so", it is not your right to make anyone else follow what you think Jesus said.

And yes Whitey, sorry, but the things I listed were all justified by some using the Bible you and I love. Those are historical facts, not faith. And like anything else, there are good and bad facets of Christianity. Pointing them out doesn't make me anti-Christian.

I'm not great and have never made such a claim. I'm just a
sinner saved by Grace through faith in The Blood of Jesus.

Your's and most people in America's fault is , you're leaving God out of the
picture. The bottom line is , it's not my belief , it's what thus
saith The Lord ! We are commanded to give the gospel to a lost
and dying world.

Romans 3:10 As it is written , There is none righteous , no not one.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death , but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love toward us , in that while we
were yet sinners , Christ died for us.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord
shall be saved .

Acts 16:31 ... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ , and thou shalt be saved.
