Just a couple thoughts from the FNG:

...I wonder why it's called 'Preaching' or 'Forcing Their Religion' when Christians talk about their faith, but it's called 'Diversity' or 'Tolerance' when every OTHER faith's membership (including Athiests) harp about what 'THEY' beleive?

...Why doesn't 'tolerance' tolerate 'intolerance?'

...If we really support free-speech...free thought...how can we ever persecute and even prosecute somebody for 'offensive' speech? The freedoms of speech we enjoy in this country are second to none - unless, as the main-stream-media would teach us, unless one is freely speaking their Christian-based convictions. Christians are called '___ophobes' for standing up for their beliefs; for speaking out against those who would force THEIR beliefs upon them - think Pro-homosexual, Pro-Abortion, etc. Those groups want to force THEIR views on morality upon society. I'll give credit to the Pro-Homosexual groups - they've done a good job of convincing the weak-minded folks that homosexuality is like race; something a person has NO control of. They are trying to convince children that 'it's okay, it's NORMAL, to enjoy sex with others of your same gender. Very organized group.

...Liberals hate. They hate America. They hate Christianity. Often they hate our service men and women. Often they hate babies, and love criminals. They hate absolute Truth. For Liberals, there ARE no absolutes; I've heard said 'There are Absolutely NO absolutes.'

...I've often heard it said 'it's arrogant to assume YOUR faith is the ONLY truth'. To that I ask, what good is my faith if I allow that it could be wrong? It makes ME and GOD a liar. If I allow that what I believe about God could be wrong, my faith is useless. Would YOU believe in something you knew, or suspected to be false? I believe Christ is the 'only' way to God...to Heaven. Either I'm right, or God/TheBible/Christ are liars. Narrow is the path to God...only a few will find it...that's biblical.

...I REALLY like 04+ SuperCrews. If I could afford one, I'd buy one today.

...The Seattle Seahawks are the best team EVER!

...I enjoy a frosty Beer on a warm summer evening.

I put those last few things in there to show that in spite of how 'offended' some of you more judgemental people may get at my reply, I'm actually a normal, nice, non-crazy guy. I stand by my convictions, and allow you to stand by yours - even if I know yours are 'wrong'.

regards,

"I wonder why it's called 'Preaching' or 'Forcing Their Religion' when Christians talk about their faith, but it's called 'Diversity' or 'Tolerance' when every OTHER faith's membership (including Athiests) harp about what 'THEY' beleive?"

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

"If we really support free-speech...free thought...how can we ever persecute and even prosecute somebody for 'offensive' speech? " Freedom of speech was designed to allow you to speak about your government without fear of retribution from that government. Nothing more, nothing less. When you make a statement, expect some criticism. Anti-gay people may be called phobes, but the pro-gay people are called plenty of names too.

"Liberals hate. They hate America. They hate Christianity. Often they hate our service men and women. Often they hate babies, and love criminals. They hate absolute Truth."

Liberals hate, conservatives hate, moderates hate. To put all the people from one side into any category is short sighted, you could make a case either way. I think Clint Eastwood summed it up well, he said the more he talks to people on the right, the more he runs into people on the left.

"I've often heard it said 'it's arrogant to assume YOUR faith is the ONLY truth'." Mmm, not familiar with this one, I think my feelings were summed up here, "I stand by my convictions, and allow you to stand by yours - even if I know yours are 'wrong'." (sound familiar?) Kind of goes along with your first question, when you denounce my convictions with your own, I get deaf real fast.

as one of the resident (and possibly the only) athiests here, and speaking only for myself, I can say with certainty that I have never ever tried to force my non-belief on anyone. Especially on this website, as I know I would be quickly jumped up and down on with both feet, not to mention the fact that I like and respect most members here too much to try and force any belief or ideology down their throats. I've never said to anyone that if they didn't see the error of their ways and renounce their faith in favor of evolutionism, they'll spend eternity at the bottom of a black hole or whatever. I will debate things here and take some people to task for obvious errors and mis-statements. I try to keep it civil and avoid name calling and insulting people for daring to have a different point of view. There are a few people here that don't work that way and as far as I'm concerned, it's open season on them!

that is one of the most rediculous statements I've ever read here and as such deserves ABSOLUTELY no more consideration than it's already gotten.

My experience is that all sides have intollerant factions. The liberals aren't the only ones.

I haven't been attacked so visciously as when I debated my fellow "conservatives" on the mistake that was/is Iraq. I was jumped on as a closet liberal, anti-American, Bush hater, etc. I'd venture to say I'm more conservative than they were but they were absolutely frothing at the mouth to scream at me. "Conservatives" can be just as hateful.

How to be a 'good' Atheist - not saying you 'aren't'..just thought you might enjoy this post, by a e-friend of mine on another board, who is atheist:

You hating that statement doesn't make it any less true. I know it wreaks of Ann Coulter...but there are valid truths in the concept.

This explains very well my thoughts...

Liberalism is hypersensitive, waging an unwinnable eternal revolution
against the smallest evil. Liberal causes these days are puny: let us
make sure we use `she' for a hypothetical person instead of always
using `he'; let us narrow the income gap between the richest
country's rich people and the richest country's poor people (the
richest poor in the world); let us give everyone a right not to be
subject to a certain level of pollution (lowering my risk of cancer
from one in a million to one in two million).

Liberals will never believe that America is doing okay; they are the
modern day muckrakers who insist on spoiling the party for everyone
because one person doesn't like the music.

The left is naïve. Liberals act indignantly shocked to find
injustice, poverty, hypocrisy, or oppression. There is really nothing
new about those evils at all. "It is the 20th Century, for crying out
loud!" The most barbaric century yet, they seem to forget. "This
isn't the Middle Ages!" As if that was the only or the worst age of
ignorance, vice, and malice.

Instead of heeding the historical truth that humans and their
institutions in every age will always find ways to perpetuate evil,
liberals blindly listen to the music of political scientists,
economists, psychologists, sociologists, and anthropologists who lie
and say they have discovered the laws of human behavior, and that
with the right institutional manipulation we can cancel out our vices
and live in harmony forever.

Calling something rediculous doesn't mean I hate it, though it may work that way for you. I'll leave hating thing to folks like you as you seem to do it so well.

As for Ann Coulter and your spiffy little excerpt from liberalscum.***, all I can say is
BLAHBLAHBLAH

Semantics. Focus on ONE word in my statement - regardless of it's truth - and change the topic.

Sure.

- Enjoy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Dude, you attributed something to me that wasn't there. I simply corrected you.

BTW, I don't need any lessons on how to be an athiest. As a FREE thinking individual, I'll find my own way, thanks.

To quote that wise old philosopher

"Iyam what Iyam and that's what Iyam" [Popeye circa 1930somethingorother]

the Constitution and the Bible have 1 thing in common... people reading the words verbatim where it suits their purpose.

In this case, the free speech thing doesn't mean you can say whatever you want. That's detrimental to society. What they intended was that you can question your leaders without fear of imprisonment or execution (you know, like the liberal media does everyday)

You guys crack me up!

Just when I begin to think you're smarter than the average bear (Yogi, circa Jellystone Park, 1960's), you misquote one of the most colorful (actually technicolor later in his career) sailors of all time....

It's "Iyam what Iyam an' dat's all what I yam! -Popeye-

geez, dumped on for inserting a little proper english. I was just trying to make it intelligible for a certain member, initials M.W., who shall remain nameless out of respect for his privacy.
