first off, and im not trying to be a jerk here, but this is how it is, do your research before you start gettin on people.
1: in dirt, smaller tires wont make a diffrence, the only time you would need to regear would be if you cant turn the tires over, in this sittuation, i could turn much much bigger tires over if i wanted to.
2:khendrix2374, thanks for backing me up man kc 10 fe, i dont understand why you would care what i did with my truck. if you are going to get on me like that, get your facts straight first man. what i do with my truck has nothing to do with your insurance rates man, that has to do with your record and what you have done with your life. personally, i have made enough money to do what i want with MY truck and i will. not trying to be rude, but sometimes its people like this that give the people that actually know what they are doing a bad rap.

as far as the pullin part in dirt, weight, tread, and tire width have everthing to do with pullin power. dirt equals less traction, if i were on cement, it might be a diffrent story.

lastly, this is my best friend, we took the procautions to ensure our safty as well as the other people that were watching, i have been doing things like this for many many years, like i said the chain we were using could have held both trucks upside down easily with plenty of room to spair.

lastly, you cant sue for your stupidity, you can try, but you will lose, your case would never hold water. i have taken enough law classes to tell ya they would laugh at you in your face if you tried to bring a case like that to court what you do is your business with their product, they merely can recoment a lb weight for a chain, if you break that then you are at your own risk. by the way, the chain we were using i found out was used to hold a skidder 30 feet in the air from a crain, lol, it should hold!

P.S. i plan on pullin him backwards in about a month when i get my new tires!

Can't sue for your own stupid actions????

You might want ask McDonald's about that. I clearly remember a lady getting PAID ($10 million) for spilling coffee on her leg. Seems that she wasn't adequately warned about coffee being HOT... DUH...

Ask any of the firearms companies who are being sued because some criminal POS shot someone but it was blamed on the manufacturer. Last time I checked Smith & Wesson don't sell guns out of the trunks of cars but they were sued because someone shot someone with a gun bought ILLEGALLY out of the trunk of a car.

Ask any company that makes hairdryers. Did you know you can't use one while bathing? I found this to be shocking (I kill me ) to be sure.

Why do you think those stickers are on vehicle visors? Guess people weren't warned that you can't drive a Ford Explorer like a F1 car. Again, DUH...

Why is it necessary to put on a tube of PREPARATION H "Do Not Take Orally"? Some how I don't think a warning is necessary here, but since it is there, you can bet there was a lawsuit or at least a lawyer telling someone to put the warning on the tube. One more time, DUH...

Why does it say on my bottle of fuel injector cleaner, "Warning Contains Petroleum Distillates"? One would hope, I am putting it in my fuel tank which contains a large amount of petroleum distillates.

Yes, you can sue for stupidity and it happens often.

It ain't personal. Pull away all you want, I call it like I see it. The way I see it that's REALLY STUPID not to mention dangerous.

KC-10 FE out...

Gents, pulling is all about torque.

It has nothing to do with weight or cubic inches.

Torque is at it's simplest twisting force.

If I was going to buy a truck tomorrow to settle this argument, it would be a 2005 Dodge Cummins 3/4 ton. That truck would tow most vehicles backwards down the highway without even breaking a sweat.

Not a 1 ton. 3/4 ton.

Not that i care what you do...because actually, well i wanna know if you eventually pull that Dodge down the road!! LOL

But anyways... that quote of yours is wrong. Their are many factors that have effect on your insurance cost, not just what you've done. Granted its very important and great to have a clean record. But where you live, population, amount of accidents, amount of claims, fraud, etc.... that counts as well.

Hell, i live in NJ, one of the smallest states in the U.S. Yet it's also the most heavily popluated state as far as per square mile and it's population is 9th highest in the nation! And due to that, there are a ****load of people on the road everyday, hence many accidents. And guess what, that's right.... insurance is high as hell and insurance agencies have even left NJ in the past too due to these issues. Basically just trying to point out that others actions do affect our insurance rates and thats a fact. Hell... they even have a commerical made by the DMV that shows how people with no insurance, fraud cases, etc... are basically freeloaders and we pay for there crimes and faults. So get YOUR facts straight, we pay for others mistakes.

and yes, vehicle type counts too. In Toronto, it costs more to insure a 5yo Integra than a brand new Lariat 4x4 because of the history of the car.

Rams and Dakotas are also abot 10-15% more expensive to insure because of a higher theft rate.

Solution

I guess I shouldn't have posted about safety when using chains. Just wanting people to know what could happen if something went wrong.

With that said, I think I have a solution to the whole pulling issue. Forget pulling with a tow strap, chain, etc. Put them face to face, bumper to bumper and let them rip in 'forward'. Be sure to post some pics of the aftermath.
