Angry Dad Just Bought A Titan, And...

as much as I hate to say it, not only is it a very nice truck (LE 4X4) but it is QUICKER & FASTER than my new F150. Dad's Titan is also a crew cab. My F150 is stock as is his Titan, but man it flat smokes me off the line. Also, his Titan has more interior room than my F150. I know you guys are going to flame me, but his truck is a very nice BIG truck. I'm glad I have my new F150, but if I had looked at the Titan before I bought the F150, well.....

Of course it's faster, it's 'less' truck. Just like my L is less than a new F-150. I'd blow the doors off anything except the SRT-10, but I sure can't tow as much or haul as much as a new F-150. If you're looking for speed, get an L or a sports car.

I'll be curious to see how he likes 0 to 60 in 7.4 seconds at 10 to 13 mpg.

Titan Power at a Price at the Pump....

After 2 or 3 years of running the nuts off it (that's what I see most Titan guys doing), it'll be almost worthless at trade in time. I hope your dad took lots of pictures while it's still new. It won't be that way for long!

Faster? Duuuurrrr... that's what less wieght, some more ponies & and extra gear do. If your surprised at the Titan's pep, you need to put the keys down and step away from your vehicle until you get some common sense.

More interior room?!! BBWWWWAAAAAHHHH HAH HAH HA!!! Owww.. my ribs.. you short folks are so funny...

Agreed, the Titan sucked in interior design and comfort. I found it tighter than the F-150, Dodge and Silverado/ Sierra in leg, hip and shoulder room, it was roomier than the Tundra, but that's not saying much. Next you'll probably tell us about the high build quality of the interior as well...

fact:

tiyan is ugly

the titan's weight is around 5000, hardly a light weight.

the f150 is to heavy

the titan motor is more powerful,

no 2005 lightnings available

both of my 5.4 trucks get 12 to 13 in the city (235 hp and 260 hp)

other than the high dollar Dodge, the titan is the quickest full size (yes 5000 # is a full size) truck available.

i personally think Ford screwed up making the new f150 so heavy (400 to 500# heavier than the 04), the new 3v 5.4 in the old body style would be a very good running truck. my 01 supercrew weights around 5000 and i just dont think of it as light.

i guarantee that the rising cost of gas and the competion of the the first full size truck from japan (i am sure there are guys around that remeber getting there a$$ handed to them on a plate in the 80's by japanese cars) has a few ford guys worried.

I know the rhetoric- it happens every time someone mentions the word "titan' on this board... While it is true that the F-150, for all intents and purposes is the best selling, best looking, and dare I say- potentially most trouble-free truck currently available- there is no denying the facts- and the facts are:

1.) The Titan won a number of automotive awards, just as the new F-150 did. Not as many, but a good bit- even beating the F-150 in some; including 4-Wheel & Off Road Magazine's award and in Car & Driver.

2.) The Titan crew cab and extended cabs are romier than the F-150's.

3.) The Titan meets, or exceeds the F-150 in every measureable category, except overall weight.

4.) While the F-150 claims a 9,900 lb tow rating, that is not indicatiave of all F-150's- it's only true for the long-bed, tow-packaged F-150. The SuperCrew's tow rating is quite a bit below 9,900 lbs. All the Titans (except the 4WD) can tow 9,000 lbs.

5.) The Titan was a home run for a first time trip into the Full size arena. It's sales numbers are increasing monthly and while it's no sales threat to the F-150, it is proving itself a solid ROI for Nissan.

6.) It's about as great of a mix of truck utility and car liveability as the F-150 is.

7.) With 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, many flaws can, and will be overlooked- fortunately, there aren't many flaws.

____________________
Assumptions:

A.) This truck would probably still start if you dropped it off a cliff- if Nissan's reliability holds true.

B.) It's going to fall apart? Not hardly...

C.) Cheesy interior. True, but not that bad- stop hating...

D.) The Titan probably used the 1997 - 2003 F-150 and the 2000 - 2003 Tundra as the benchmark(s). After owning a 1999 and a 2002= I can tell you that the Titan is superior to my F-150 in every way; except looks- and looks are subjective.. The previous generation F-150 is not bad company to keep... If it were still being produced today, it'd match=up well against the 2004-2005 F-150's.
---------------------------------

I'll probably get flamed by a few blue bleeders for coming to Tami's rescue. I don't give a s**t. It is what it is, and pretending not to acknowledge the Titan's competiveness against teh F-150 is simply denial. It's a good truck; it's a great truck- but, no one's making anyone buy it..

I love my F-150, but- when we get ready to trde it, sure- I'm going to entertain an offer from Nissan too... I like them both... (F-150 & Titan)

But, I'd drop them both like dirty thirds if someone were to make me a good deal on a GMC Sierra Denali Crew Cab 6.0L.

TITAN= When and i mean when this titan has big miles on it then and only then can it ever be proven to be in the same room as the F-150. I have been driving mine for over 130,000 miles and had to only replace one torsion bar due to some offroading. Now with that said remember the old saying "don't you buy no ugly truck". I have plenty of power more than i need most of the time and i still get 19-21 miles to a gallon of gas highway and all except the front brakes and torsion bar is OEM....
I drive at least 130 miles each day and have never been left on the side of the road. The F-150 is a proven reliable truck and i can attest to that each day i get in and turn the key and it starts no problem and now with the magna flow i am even a happier camper.... TITAN this

Ahhhh F#$k it enough said....
