Gas Prices Suck!!

Well, its never getting any better. Over by St. Louis, prices hit an all time high at $2.44 per gallon for premium gas. At least this is the hightest I've ever seen it over here, I'm sure other people are paying more in other parts of the country, but this sucks, and I don't see it getting any better. So, since the lightning is pretty much a gas guzzler, especially since its impossible not to get on it all the time...what are some good gas mileage improving mods. What are the best one's anyone has heard of, and just how effective are they. I use mine as regular driving vehicle, and its killing me to fill up twice a week. I almost need to invest in another vehicle so I'm not putting so many miles on the Lightning. Let me know if anything has worked great for anybody. Right now, I'm averaging 14 mpg, sometimes 15 if I never get on it. Thanks for the input!!

Unfortunately, that's about as good as it gets with these trucks.

Good gas mileage tips 1) take off the supercharger belt 2) don't drive it

I just got back from getting some 100 octane at Gas City for 4.40 a gallon ... You would think with us in Iraq we could reep some benefit of all that oil over there....seems to be working backwards..

I hear it will be around $3.00 soon in California, as for better Gas milage, you can take some weight out of the "L", better exhaust system, air Filter, a good tune. This might get you an extra mile or 2 per gallon. A second car might be good idea, I have an 89 Mustang with a 5.0, better exhaust, 5 spd, ram air, 3.55 gears and its getting 20 miles per gallon using regular. Makes for a good work car and these things are pretty cheap now a days.
I can't see getting some POS 4 cly that I would hate driving, I would probably get a motorcycle frist before a 4cly ricer..

I knew when I bought my truck it was a gas hog,but in 02-03 gas was around $1.50 to$1.70. Now gas here is $2.39 a gallon, that's just bull sh--!! Heck, they know everybody has to have gas so they can charge us out the rear! Like Jeff said with us pretty much protecting the Iraqi people and our military getting killed for helping them,we should get something out of the deal. Heck, every country that hates us say's the oil is why were there anyway, so lets take some oil to cover some of the millions all of us tax payers are dishing out! I think everybody in the USA should get together and stand up and say we are sick of this price gauging.Overnight gas jumps 10 cents or more, then it takes weeks for that same 10 cents to come down if it even comes down! I don't know if this would shake them up but everyone should pick 2 days and not buy a drop of gas. Get enough so you can go 2 days and everbody BOYCOTT THE SOB'S!! As you can tell this is a sore subject for me. So sorry for the long rant.
